The final workshop of the research group on "Effects of climate change on buildings and neighborhoods" took place on 21.06.2022 at Coudraystraße 11 in Weimar.
Excursion and lectures in frame of the International MSc. Program in Natural Hazards and Risks in Structural Engineering (NHRE) organized by GFZ Potsdam Section 2.6 “Seismic Hazard and Risk Dynamics” in cooperation with the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar, Earthquake Damage Analysis Center (EDAC).
Dr. Filip defended his dissertation "Assessment of the Out-of-Plane Earthquake Resistance of Reinforced Concrete Frame Structures with Masonry Infill Walls Containing Openings" on April 8th, 2022 in Osijek, Croatia.
We are pleased to announce that M.Sc. Moustafa Haroun Fakar, Ph.D. Student at the Chair of Advanced Structures, has been recently awarded a scholarship " Thüringer Graduiertenförderung, 2022/23" by the Scholarship Commission of the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar. He is actively working on the research topic "Prediction of Structural Response Modification Factors for Mixed Building Types".
The Engineering Office Dr. Krämer GmbH represented by Mr. Adler delivered a guest lecture on the topic "Approaches for the construction improvement of a cellar vault" to the civil engineering students of the 5th semester as part of the lecture series "Construction of structural engineering I - construction of timber and masonry (sustainable buildings)" on February 1st, 2022.
As part of the Natural Hazards and Risks in Structural Engineering master’s degree program (NHRE), the Chair of Advanced Structures (KTW) and Earthquake Damage Analysis Center (EDAC) at the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar organized an excursion to the university’s completely gutted building at Coudraystraße 7.
The chair of Advanced Structures at Bauhaus University Weimar has received a grant of 180,000 Euros from the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD), within the framework of the "University partnerships with Iraq 2022-2023" program under the project title "Multiscale consequence studies for hazard impact on structures in Iraq“.
As part of a future cooperation between Leviat and the Bauhaus University Weimar, Matthias Roik and Diego Velásquez gave a lecture on "Rear-ventilated façades" and "A concept for fixing heavy façades in earthquake zones" to the Master's students in the lecture series "Risk projects and evaluation of structures".
In cooperation with the eLearning Lab “eLab” of BUW, and support from the project partner Ruhr University Bochum (RUB), the project coordinator Bauhaus-University Weimar (BUW) organized and implemented a training course from 27th September to 1st October 2021 in Weimar. Digital tools, as well as possible application scenarios in teaching including a comprehensive overview of the possibilities and offers of eLearning and Moodle functionalities were presented.
