Since the Faculty of Art and Design was estab- lished, project work has remained the focus of instruction, ensuring that knowledge and skills are taught where they are needed most.
The Faculty – which is also the art college of Thuringia – offers an integrated, project-based art and design study programme, known as the »Weimar Model«.
The goal of this programme is to help students develop an authentic and professional artistic personality. Comprehensive artistic and technical abilities are also acquired through projects in the workshops.
The Fine Art Education programmes are distinguished through its project orientation, which fosters the students’ ability to organise, contemplate and cooperate, while also promoting the skills necessary to conduct research.
This programme focuses on industrial or artisanal product design, emerging technologies, design and management, mobility, projects and environment, scenic design and exhibition design.
Planning campaigns and memorable events are just a part of this degree programme, along with learning how organise dramatic sensory impressions or how to communicate using audio-visual, electronic media.
The faculty offers an unique opportunity to obtain a double qualification with a practical and scientific component. The degree programme is aimed at those students who have already received a degree from an artistic or design school.
The scientific disciplines in the Faculty of Art and Design teach students the fundamental attitudes and working methods in the humanities and cultural sciences, as well as the theoretical basis of artistic and design processes.
The Bauhaus.Botschafters are students at the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar answering questions about their own degree program. In tours and workshops they offer first hand information that may be helpful in making decisions regarding the appropriate course of study in Weimar.
In our accessible faculty flyer you will find information about the degree programmes offered, the application and aptitude tests, as well as details about our workshops - clearly laid out and easy to read.
