    Short CV

Stefan Lucks' fields of research are cryptology and communication security. He obtained a diploma in Computer Science in 1993 at the University of Dortmund. In 1997, he finished his Ph.D. at the University of Göttingen and went to the University of Mannheim, where he obtained his postdoctoral lecture qualification ("Habilitiation") in 2003 and became a lecturer ("Oberassistent") in 2004, leading the security research team for the Mobile Business Research Group at the University of Mannheim. In 2007, he became full professor for Media Security at Bauhaus-University, Weimar.

He has published more than fourty peer-reviewed papers about cryptology and served on numerous international program committees, such as AES, SAC, FSE, and Eurocrypt. He was/is co-organiser of the Western European Workshop on Cryptography (WeWORC) 2005 and 2007 and of the Dagstuhl seminar on Symmetric Cryptography in 2007 and 2009.

    Research interests

    • Design and analysis of fundamental cryptographic algorithms, with a focus on
Symmetric Cryptography (block ciphers, stream ciphers, hash functions, ...).

    • Composition of complex cryptosystems and security protocols from fundamental
cryptographic algorithms, namely formal proofs of security for composed cryptosystems.

    • Implementation of cryptographic algorithms and security protocols.

    • Application of cryptographic algorithms and protocols for secure media and
      communication systems.
