Scholarships

Taking part in the summer courses at the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar broadens your personal and practical skills. It is as well a source of inspiration and a once in a lifetime experience! This is why we are pleased to offer scholarships for specialised courses in Architecture & Urbanism, Art & Design, and Engineering & Environment.

The scholarship covers the course fee for a two-week specialised course at the Bauhaus Summer School 2017 in Weimar and the expenses for an accommodation provided by the Bauhaus Summer School.

Please send us your CV, letter of motivation, proof of credits, english language certificate together with your course specific application by the 1st May 2017 to summerschool@uni-weimar.de

The specialised course »Design Thinking« is a good opportunity to get a first impression of the topics related to the Masters programme »Media Management« at the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar. Take the chance to get to know the programme and apply for the »Design Thinking« scholarship!

It is essential for the governemnt of Weimar to encourage international and cultural exchange between people from all over the world in Weimar. Therefore the Weimar scholarship is offered in cooperation with the Bauhaus Summer School this year. The amount of the scholarship corresponds to the course fees.

The funding addresses:

  • international students, pupils, job-seekers or alumni who are substantially interested in Weimar and the Bauhaus Summer School and are actively involved in voluntary work or show outstanding performances in advocational work.

Unfortunaley we cannot accept applications from german citizens. Only complete applications will be given consideration. There is no entitlement to a scholarship. Cash payments are not possible.

Furthermore there is an experience report expected of the scholarship holders.

 

Weimar Scholarship for »Deutsch in Weimar«

The participation in the 4-weeks intensive language course »Deutsch in Weimar« can be supported.

Please submit the following documents by 15 June 2017 as a pdf file via email.

  • Letter of motivation (Why are you interested in Weimar and the Bauhaus Summer School? In which field are you actively involved doing voluntary work? max. 1 page)
  • Curriculum vitae (max. 2 pages)
  • Certificate of current status (pupils, students, severely disabled and unemployed people, alumni (graduates) of Bauhaus-Universität Weimar / Bauhaus Summer School)

Weimar Scholarship for a specialised course

The participation in a 2 weeks specialised course can be supported.

  • Letter of motivation (Why are you interested in Weimar and the Bauhaus Summer School? In which field are you actively involved doing voluntary work? max. 1 page)
  • Curriculum vitae (max. 2 pages)
  • Certificate of current status (pupils, students, severely disabled and unemployed people, alumni (graduates) of Bauhaus-Universität Weimar / Bauhaus Summer School)
  • Complete and correctly named application*

There are three categories of financial support

  1. waiving of the course fee
    or
  2. waiving of the course fee, free cafeteria lunch (Mondays to Fridays) and free accommodation (19 August - 2 September 2017)
    or 
  3. waiving of the course fee, free cafeteria lunch (Mondays to Fridays), free accommodation (19 August - 2 September 2017) and a part of costs for travel expenses can be refunded, if original tickets can be presented.

To apply, submit a letter of application for financial support (1), (2) or (3) - explaining why you should receive financial support (max. 500 words) - along with your other application documents by email by 1 May 2017.

There are some course-specific scholarships available for Cultural Landscape and Urban Resilience. Students who consider to be in need of such support can apply for those scholarships, which are provided by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD).

Please note: DAAD application deadline for the Bauhaus Summer School 2017 has already ended.

For years, the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) has supported the intensive language course »Deutsch in Weimar« at the Bauhaus Summer School. The amount of the scholarship and application deadline vary from country to country.

The deadlines for your application of DAAD may differ from the deadlines of Bauhaus Summer School. As a rule, the applications must be turned in to a DAAD branch office in November (!). You can find detailed information on the DAAD website.

Please also note that the Bauhaus Summer School will not be able to support your DAAD application.
