If you booked a room and your course starts on 6 August, please arrive on 5 August. Between 11.00 and 19.00 we will be organising a Meeting Point in the Main Train Station in Weimar. You will receive the key to your room, your Summer School ID card and an info-file. Then you will be taken to your accommodation (free shuttle service).

If you booked a room and your course starts on 20 August, please arrive on 19 August. Between 17.00 and 21.00 we will be organising a Meeting Point in the Main Train Station in Weimar. You will receive the key to your room, your Summer School ID card and an info-file. Then you will be taken to your accommodation (free shuttle service).
Early or Late Arrival
Please let us know your date and time of arrival, if you arrive earlier or later than the above dates or hours. You will then receive instructions on how to proceed. Please note: We will take you to your accommodation during the posted times only. Under certain circumstances you will have to check in to a hotel for the night at your own expense.
Departure is one day after the end of your course.

Check-out from low budget rooms, student housing and single apartments will take place in the morning on the day of departure between 09.00 and 15.00. At the beginning of the last week of your course, you must sign up for a walk-through (check-out) appointment.
If you are staying in a shared private flat, you will make an appointment for a walk-through (check-out) with your contact person at your apartment. You'll find information in your room.
You must leave your room in the same condition you found it: Please empty the rubbish bin, close the windows and turn off the lights.
After the walk-through you will receive written confirmation that you left your room in an acceptable condition. Turn in both your room key and written confirmation on the day of departure between 09.00 and 15.30 at the Meeting Point at the Weimar train station.
You will receive your deposit of 50 EUR only after you turn in both the room key and the written confirmation.
Please note: Before departure the key deposit will be paid back to you only in cash. For financial reasons bank transfer of key deposits shall be excluded.
If you are travelling by plane, you should fly to Berlin, Frankfurt, Leipzig or Erfurt airports, since they offer the most convenient rail connections to Weimar.
A number of fast and Intercity trains from several directions stop at Weimar station. Weimar can be easily reached by train from
- Berlin (2 hours 30 mins)
- Frankfurt (2 hours 30 mins)
- Leipzig (1 hour)
- Erfurt (15 mins).
The railway station in Weimar is north of the city centre, which is easily accessible within a few minutes either by bus or on foot.
Weimar is close to the A4 motorway (exit Weimar). This can easily be reached from the A7 motorway (Kirchheimer Dreieck) and the A9 motorway (Hermsdorfer Kreuz).
Weimar is situated not only in the heart of Germany, but also in the heart of Thuringia. It is also surrounded by a number of other interesting cities. You can reach the state capitol of Erfurt and the university city of Jena with a short train ride -- and the ride is free with your summer school ID.
The Wartburg in Eisenach, the Bauhaus in Dessau or the classic cities of Dresden and Leipzig are only 1-2 hours, Berlin 2,5 hours away from Weimar by train.
