The Language Centre of the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar offers German language courses throughout the year. The intensive courses in August always are the cherry on top: Our courses are tought by committed and experienced teachers for German as a Foreign Language. They work hard to make every lesson lively, interactive and highly engaging!

In addition, each course will be accompanied by a so-called 'tutor': He or she is not in charge for professional language input, but provides organisational support. Our tutoring team will welcome you on the arrival days and accompany you to the excursions. Our tutors usually are students themselves and know Weimar and the university inside out. They will be your buddy and contact person during the entire four weeks and will help you with advice and support!

After successful completion of the language course, you will receive a certificate of participation issued by the Bauhaus Summer School. It will show the course title, the date and duration of the course, the number of contact hours as well as the main contents and topics.

Participants earn 4 credit points (ECTS) after completion of the three-week course (approx. 75 teaching hours). In order to receive credit points, it is necessary to attend at least 80% of the course lessons and to fulfil the required tasks.

Prior to your participation, it is essential that you clarify whether your home university will recognise the foreign credits you intend to earn.

If you would like to receive a grade, you must discuss this with the teacher at the beginning of the course! The fulfilment of additional tasks may be necessary.
