For one century now, the Bauhaus stands for a lively school of ideas and experimenting!
In the year of the 100th annyversary of the Bauhaus, you'll have plenty of opportunities to discover and enjoy the historical and modern atmosphere that makes the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar unique.
The Bauhaus was founded in Weimar in 1919 - reason enough to spend a day searching for the traces of the Bauhaus.
We invite you to an exciting workshop in the newly opened Bauhaus Museum and send you on a discovery tour through Weimar!

The Bauhaus Museum Weimar is one of the new highlights for culture and tourism in Weimar and Thuringia. And with your Summer School participant ID, entrance is free for you!
The collection is centred around the oldest museum collection worldwide of Bauhaus workshop oeuvres, started already by Walter Gropius in the 1920s. It presents the worldwide impact of this unique school of design with a view to the development of art, architecture and design.
The question “How do we want to coexist?” is as relevant today as it was then. Accordingly, the Bauhaus Museum deals with both the history of the Bauhaus as well as with current questions of young designers, artists and architects.

The former Grand Ducal Museum was built in 1869 – one of the first museums in Germany.
After a renovation break is has freshly re-opened and invites you to have a look. Showing your participant ID guarantees you free entrance!
In the new exhibition "Van de Velde, Nietzsche und die Moderne um 1900", outstanding international works of Realism, Impressionism and Art Nouveau are shown, with many references to our present day.
A large museum workshop, based on the themes of the exhibition, invites visitors to work as craftsmen with fixed and open offers. Visitors can, for example, work in bookbinding and woodworking.

From Weimar, you can reach the state capital by train or bus in just a few hours.
