Living and Housing – Now and Then
Weimar was home to many creative people: Goethe, Liszt, Nietzsche, Gropius and many others.
In this course we will take a closer look at several aspects of living and housing during their times. We will explore different theories and the cultural history of living and housing in lectures, excursions and workshops. The course will be held by experts on various fields of research related to Klassik Stiftung such as art history, philosophy, cultural studies and architecture. During the course, students will benefit from their insights and in-depth knowledge on these various fields of research both in theory and while creating their own approach to the topic.
The Klassik Stiftung Weimar comprises a unique ensemble of 27 cultural landmarks. Twelve sites are designated as World Heritages Sites by UNESCO, eleven of which belong to the “Classical Weimar” ensemble, and the Haus Am Horn as part of the “Bauhaus and its Sites in Weimar, Dessau and Bernau”. They will serve as on-site primary examples a for the course.
NOTE:
This course includes an attendance phase in Weimar from March 23 to April 1, 2023.

The course fee is 300 EURO. Participants, coming from the partner universites in the framework of Erasmus BIP scholarship and the BUW students don't pay the course fee.
