"The Digital Gaze: Studio Photography and Algorithmic Insights" is a course crafted for an era where the intersection of technology and art is more profound than ever. The course actively delves into integrating the disciplined world of studio photography with the innovative realm of AI text-to-image technology, embracing and exploring the philosophical depths of this fusion.
The course begins by grounding students in the essentials of studio photography, establishing a robust foundation that paves the way for incorporating advanced AI technologies like Photoshop AI, DALL-E 2, Midjourney, and Stable Diffusion. This integration challenges and extends the traditional boundaries of photographic aesthetics. As students navigate the course, they engage in hands-on experimentation, blending AI-generated imagery with classic photographic techniques. This process is not just about learning new skills but also about challenging conventional creativity paradigms. Students will be encouraged to develop unique projects, intertwining their newly acquired studio expertise with AI insights. The culmination of these projects will demonstrate their technical skills and their ability to contribute meaningfully to the evolving narrative of photography in this digitally enhanced age.
The course starts with a focus on Photoshop AI and is geared towards individuals with basic knowledge of photography and Photoshop, along with access to Photoshop on their computers. However, it promises to transcend a typical learning experience, offering a transformative journey that reimagines the potential and future of photographic art in the context of the digital gaze.
Studio introductions for this course will be held mid-March at the photo workshop. If you're interested in participating, please reach out to Jonas Tegtmeyer. jonas.tegtmeyer@uni-weimar.de |
