This course is designed to explore the potential of photography as a medium for research. Students will understand the importance of research through photography and develop the necessary skills to conceptualize and complete personal projects. The course will show how photography can encompass various topics like history, social issues, or science.
In addition, the course will focus on technical skills and hands-on experience required in a studio environment, such as camera operation, lighting techniques, and editing software. The resulting photographs can range from documentary to experimental or staged, allowing for creative exploration. Throughout the course, students will engage in constructivediscussions during image critiques, where they benefit from the mutual development of their conceptual ideas. They will also analyze reference projects from the history of photography, gaining inspiration and insights from established works.
By the end of the course, students will have a well-rounded understanding of photography as an artistic tool for research and expression.
**As part of this course, an introductory course for the photo studio is organised in the first week of the semester and is compulsory. |
