As a doctoral candidate or a postdoctoral research fellow you are supposed to give presentations at conferences or in a seminar at your University. Most of these presentations will be held in English as that is the common language in an international context.

It is not an easy task to give a presentation in your native language let alone in a foreign language and environment. This workshop is designed to help you master this task online and in ”real life”.

We will concentrate on:

• how to prepare a presentation for your audience,
• how to prepare yourself for presenting,
• how to improve your presentation skills in English.

There will be the chance of video-feedback for those who wish. We will start with an Online-Workshop and meet later for the ”real life” Workshop in Weimar.

Please bring a short presentation (approximately 5 min) to work on during the second day of the workshop. It can be part of a longer presentation you are planning to give, or it can be a short overview of one aspect of your doctoral thesis.

You are welcome to use PowerPoint or any other visual support for your presentation.

Our Online-Workshop will be held on the Platform ”BigBlueButton” and you will get a link via e-mail ahead of the workshop to join.

This workshop is primarily aimed towards doctoral candidates of the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar. Participation in this workshop is subject to a participation fee. For doctoral candidates of the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar, this is a fee of 30,00 €. Please note the applicable conditions of participation according to the Terms of Usage for Qualification Courses at the Bauhaus Research School. We will inform you about the payment modalities by e-mail after you have registered for the course here in the portal.

Depending on capacity, other members and affiliates of the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar, as well as external interested parties, can also participate in the qualification courses.
