Sprachunterricht

Im Unterricht vertiefen Sie Ihr Hör- und Leseverstehen, Ihr Schreiben und Sprechen. Mit fachkundiger Unterstützung und in kleinen Gruppen können Sie Ihren Wortschatz sowie Ihre Grammatik- und Phonetik-Kenntnisse aufbauen und erweitern. Ein Schwerpunkt liegt dabei auf der Kommunikation in der Fremdsprache: Während des Kurses haben Sie zahlreiche Möglichkeiten, Ihre Deutschkenntnisse in anregender Lernumgebung praktisch anzuwenden! Darüber hinaus lernen Sie während des gesamten Kurses spannende Fakten zu Deutschland, dessen Einwohnern und der hiesigen Kultur.

Projektunterricht

Durch eine tolle Kooperation mit der Klassik Stiftung Weimar wird der Sprachunterricht durch spannende Projekte vor Ort ergänzt: Kostenfrei können Sie die Häuser, Museen und Einrichtungen besuchen und Ihre Sprachkenntnisse in praktischer Anwendung vor Ort erproben und erweitern. Das Bauhaus-Museum, Goethe-Haus und vieles mehr erwarten Sie - kommen Sie mit auf diese Entdeckungsreise und vertiefen Sie neben Ihren Sprachkompetenzen gleichzeitig Ihr kulturelles Wissen! Je nach Sprachniveau und Interesse haben Sie außerdem die Möglichkeit, Weimars Umland zu erkunden, die Nachbarstädte zu besuchen und auf Exkursionen die deutsche Kultur aus erster Hand erleben. Selbstverständlich sind auch Ihre eigenen Wünsche und Anregungen im Unterricht jederzeit herzlich willkommen!

Während Ihrer Zeit bei der Bauhaus Summer School tauchen Sie voll und ganz in die deutsche Sprache ein, denn der Deutschunterricht ist nicht nur auf den Klassenraum begrenzt! Profitieren Sie von unserem abwechslungsreichen Rahmenprogramm und nutzen Sie die Chance, Deutsch vor Ort anzuwenden:

The programme of our German intensive course combines an intensive German as a foreign language course in classroom teaching with practical training in small projects.

Language Classes

The morning classes deepen your competence in listening, reading, writing and speaking in German. The course helps you to build and expand your vocabulary, knowledge of grammar and phonetics and gives you loads of practice at communicating in German in a supportive and interactive learning environment. On top of that, during the whole course, you will be learning interesting facts about Germany, its people and culture. Depending on language levels and interest, you will also visit neighboring towns of Weimar, for example Erfurt and Jena, so you can experience the German culture firsthand. 

Project Classes

In collaboration with the Klassik Stiftung Weimar, we offer a supplementary feature: the museum project. This will give you the opportunity to practice your language skills on site in one of the Klassik Stiftung Weimar's museums, for example the art collection of the castle, the Park Cave or the Roman House. Join us on this journey of discovery, and improve your German and your cultural knowledge at the same time! We are looking forward to seeing you and wish you an exciting and rewarding summer!

Accompanying programme

You will immerse yourself in the German language during your time at Bauhaus Summer School, but it is not all classroom-based study. Benefit from our accompanying programme and take an opportunity of applying the language in the field! You can practice your German in a playful atmosphere of Gaming Nights. You can improve your listening comprehension and gain new insights into German culture by watching German movies or practice your conversation skills with your fellow students during excursions to Berlin or Dessau. 

BLENDED-COURSE

Part I: Online Phase, August 15 to August 19, 2022

Part II: Attendance Phase (on sight in Weimar), August 20 to September 3, 2022

NOTE: Please be aware that in order to pass the course both parts are mandatory. Also, before you register for our Summer School course, you must officially apply. You can find more information on our website. (Application deadline: May 05, 2022)

After successful completion of the language course, you will receive a certificate of participation issued by the Bauhaus Summer School. It will show the course title, the date and duration of the course, the number of contact hours as well as the main contents and topics. Participants earn 4 credit points (ECTS) after completion of the three-week course (approx. 75 teaching hours). In order to receive credit points, it is necessary to attend at least 80% of the course lessons and fulfil the required tasks.

NOTE: Prior to your participation, it is essential that you clarify whether your home university will recognise the foreign credits you intend to earn. If you would like to receive a grade, you must discuss this with the teacher at the beginning of the course! The fulfilment of additional tasks may be necessary.

Our intensive German courses are designed for internationals from the age of 18 who seek an authentic experience and real immersion into the German culture and language. Our participants come from all over the worls! The average age is usually between 20 and 30 years, but all groups are very welcome regardless of age.

There are no language requirements for participation. You can start your first German language course without any previous knowledge or you can perfect your existing German skills. Before course start, all participants take a placement test, according to the results of which the courses are put together.

NOTE: Courses are offered on all levels, provided that there are enough participants who have the language skills required for the respective level.
