PB: New card. What do you think? CD: Whoa-ho. Very nice. Look at that. PB: Picked them up from the printer's yesterday. DP: Good coloring. PB: That's bone. And the lettering is something called Silian Rail. DP: It's very cool, Bateman, but that's nothing. Look at this. TB: That is really nice. DP: Eggshell with Romalian type. What do you think? PB: Nice. TB: Jesus. That is really super. How'd a nitwit like you get so tasteful? PB: [Thinking] I can't believe that Bryce prefers Van Patten's card to mine. TB: But wait. You ain't seen nothin' yet. Raised lettering, pale nimbus. White. PB: Impressive. Very nice. DP: Hmm. PB: Let's see Paul Allen's card. PB: [Thinking] Look at that subtle off-white coloring. The tasteful thickness of it. Oh, my God. It even has a watermark. LC: Is something wrong, Patrick? You're sweating.
PB [Patrick Bateman]; CD [Craig McDermott]; DP [David Van Patten]; TB [Timothy Bryce]; LC [Luis Carruthers] (American Psycho, 2000)
A portfolio is your expanded business cart. In this class, you will learn how to build your own. From a first approach to the final performance we take a journey through, concept, layout, selection of work, reproduction, alternatives, narratives and descriptions. On our way we will look at examples from practising gallerists, curators and artists. Through presentations, conversations, workshops, group and individual talks it will be our aim that every student has representative pages of his work at the end of the class.
