Experiment und Interdisziplinarität – diese Bauhaus-Grundsätze lebt das Betonkanu-Projekt an der Bauhaus-Universität Weimar bereits seit 25 Jahren. Regelmäßig kommen Studierende aller Fachrichtungen und Studienjahrgänge zusammen, um gemeinsam Form und Material für das perfekte Boot aus Beton zu entwickeln. Für den Erfolg als Bauhaus-Team bei der alle zwei Jahre stattfindenden Betonkanu-Regatta braucht es ein Zusammenwirken von handwerklichem Geschick, technischem Verständnis, gestalterischer Kreativität, Organisationstalent sowie sportlichem Ehrgeiz.
Im Modul Betonkanu 202X wollen wir die Weichen für eine erfolgreiche Zukunft des Betonkanu-Projekts stellen und das Semester nutzen, um den gesamten Entstehungsprozess eines erfolgreichen Betonkanus zu dokumentieren, in Frage zu stellen sowie neu zu denken. Kern des Moduls sind themenspezifische Workshops, die von kleinen Arbeitsgruppen fachlich und methodisch vorbereitet, durchgeführt und nachbereitet werden sollen. Dazu geben die Kursverantwortlichen zu Beginn des Semesters Seminare sowohl zu den Grundlagen des Betonkanu-Projekts als auch zu Methoden des Wissenstransfer, der Workshop-Organisation und der Projektdokumentation. Dabei besteht über das gesamte Modul ein starker Fokus auf digitale Werkzeuge und Arbeitsprozesse.
Ziel von Betonkanu 202X ist eine kollaborativ erarbeitete Wissensdatenbank, die noch vielen Generationen von Studierenden die großen und kleinen Geheimnisse des Betonkanu-Projekts zugänglich macht und von diesen fortlaufend erweitert werden kann. Dabei zeichnet sich das Modul nicht nur durch hochspannende Lehr- und Lernformate aus, sondern es hat auch außerordentlich viel „Beton im Blut“: eine Exkursion in das Zementwerk Karsdorf, Praxisübungen im Spachteln der Bootshaut und gemeinsamer Sport als Vorbereitung für die nächste Regatta sind nur einige von vielen Ideen die mit den Teilnehmenden des Kurses realisiert werden können.
Betonkanu 202X wird im Rahmen der Bauhaus.Module als studentisches Lehrprojekt gefördert. Die Studierenden werden von Saskia Gesch (UIB) und Maximilian Wunsch (UIM, Vertiefung Verkehr) betreut, die zusammen bereits ein Dutzend Betonkanu-Rennen erfolgreich gepaddelt sind. Neben der Erfahrung aus unzähligen Vorlesungen, eigenen Tutorien und Auslandsstudium hat das Betonkanu 202X-Team schon im letzten Jahr mit „bauhaus.mobil“ ein innovatives Lehrprojekt realisiert – kurz: wir wissen, was einen guten Kurs ausmacht!

Experiment and interdisciplinarity - the concrete canoe project at the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar has been living these Bauhaus principles for 25 years. Students from all disciplines and academic years regularly come together to develop the shape and material for the perfect concrete boat. Success as a Bauhaus team in the biennial concrete canoe regatta requires a combination of craftsmanship, technical understanding, creative design, organisational talent and sporting ambition.
In the module Betonkanu 202X we want to set the course for a successful future of the concrete canoe project and use the semester to document, question and rethink the entire development process of a successful concrete canoe. The core of the module are topic-specific workshops, which are to be prepared, carried out and followed up professionally and methodically by small working groups. At the beginning of the semester, the course leaders will give seminars on the basics of the concrete canoe project as well as on methods of knowledge transfer, workshop organisation and project documentation. There will be a strong focus on digital tools and work processes throughout the module.
The goal of Betonkanu 202X is a collaboratively developed knowledge database that will make the great and small secrets of the concrete canoe project accessible to many generations of students and can be continuously expanded by them. The module is not only characterized by highly exciting teaching and learning formats, but it also has an extraordinary amount of "concrete in the blood": an excursion to the Karsdorf cement plant, practical exercises in filling the boat skin and joint sports as preparation for the next regatta are just some of the many ideas that can be realized with the participants of the course.
Betonkanu 202X is funded as a student teaching project within the framework of the Bauhaus.Module. The students will be supervised by Saskia Gesch (UIB) and Maximilian Wunsch (UIM, specialisation Transportation), who together have already successfully paddled a dozen concrete canoe races. Besides the experience from countless lectures, own tutorials and studies abroad, the Betonkanu 202X team already realized an innovative teaching project last year with "bauhaus.mobil" - in short: we know what makes a good course!
