ATTENTION: This module will not take place due to an unforseen absense of Prof. Dr. Geelhaar. There will be a replacement module "Interface Design Master Class"
The project offers an insight into current and advanced practical and theoretical methods and technologies in Interface Design.
The Interface Design Masterclass unites students from different professional (Designers, Artists, Architects, Scientists/Engineers) and cultural backgrounds. It is an interdsiciplinary and international class that deals with individual practical projects that will be discussed and investigated exemplarily. Projects include webbased interfaces, mobile and Internet of Things applications as well as multi-modal and tangible interfaces.
Content wise there generally are no specific requirements. It is expected that participants develop their individual ideas, which will then be discussed exemplarily in the progress of the project.
The project is closely related to research in the Interface Design Group. Current research issues are: - Embedding digital functions in physical forms and smart objects. - Development of new and unconventional Interfaces for the interaction of human beings with digital services, urban and archtectural spaces. - Printed Electronics, 3-D MID Technology - Sound and Light installations
The three central qualities of the individual projects are: - Design Concept and Draft - Art & Design related quality - Technical realisation
Different teaching forms inside the project are offered accordingly: - Plenum: regular group meeting for exemplary discussion of individual projects and content. Participation is obligatory. - Workshop: compact practical "hands-on" workshops for crafts and skills (on appointment, partly weekends). Participation is optional - depending on individual knowledge. - Lecture: accompanying lectures for Bachelor and Master students are offered. Participation is optional - depending on individual knowledge. - Consultation: individual project progress and professional personal development can be discussed in individual consultations.
It is strongly recommended to visit at least one of the accompanying courses of the Interface Design Group.
This course is also open for advanced students wishing to perform individual research or who want to develop initial concepts for their Master thesis in the next semester. In this case it is necessary to discuss the individual project idea before the start of the course or latest at the begining of the course, in order to agree on an individual project and learning plan for the semester. |
