A stable economy, good salaries and a wide range of interesting jobs attract international specialists to work in Germany. However, the application process is governed by the typical German correctness and formality. To know the rules and requirements is essential for finding a job. This seminar provides you with all the necessary information you will need when applying particularly on the job market outside academia. It is recommended for international graduates, who plan to start applying in the next 12 months.

In this seminar you will understand how to target your search for future employment, and where you can look for vacancies. There will also be explanation and practice about the meaning of typical phrases in job advertisements. In the second part you get to find out how to apply for a job properly. You will learn how to write your cover letter and CV, and how best to adapt your application to the job description. In the next part you will get information about job interviews, this includes the general structure, trick questions and salary negotiation strategies. Subsequently, we will discuss starting salaries and practice a calculation method you can use for your future salary requests. Beside this you will get to find out more about other general conditions for academic job starters, for example vacation days or overtime regulations. Finally, you are introduced to the current situation regarding work permits and their conditions.
