Changes in Understanding of Democracy and Politics in the 20th Century
In the four-hour plenum, Jürgen Habermas and current approaches of the Frankfurt School to theoretical approaches from the American and French language regions (e.g. Michael Walzer and Alain Badiou etc.) we will work out readings on the'political' of the 20th century and compare them together. Including the discussions from the seminars on Wendy Brown and Jacques Ranciere, the question of'the political' will also be examined in depth in terms of new public spheres, utopias and dystopias, as well as the role of the media and the medialities ist to be reflected.
The plenum serves as a practical introduction to research and investigation and requires a very high willingness to actively and reliably help shape the content and performance of the sessions.
The book Jürgen Habermas, "Strukturwandel der Öffentlichkeit. Studies on a category of civil society", (1962) serves as a starting point. |
