The subject of the course would be representation of diversity in animation. How can diversity be represented in animation? Is the form of representation in animation inclusive? Animation is a media which has enormous possibilities to expand and explore inclusion and diversity. As it is often used for content for children it might tackle bias and promote respect and care where diversity is the foundation. It is also no longer necessary to link animation exclusively with children's content, therefore it offers also the possibility to deal with taboo subjects, violence, conflicts suffered by minority communities and through the infinity of forms of representation it offers the possibility of reflection and the possibility of addressing diverse audiences.
Through reading, analysis of case studies and practical exercises, students will create a series of animated comic vignettes where the inclusion of diversity is key.
