BRS WORKSHOP | ONLINE | Writing an Exposé

In academia, exposés often have to be written, mostly to apply for funding, but also, for example, for admission to research training groups or similar.

This course is designed to provide basic knowledge on how to write such academic exposés. At the same time, it will also help more experienced writers to improve their structuring and to formulate more precisely. For this purpose, information on the structure and optimisation of exposés will be given and discussed. In addition, the participants will gain insight into sample exposés and try out creative and written techniques. These techniques are applied to the (future) research of the participants so that they can take the first steps towards their own exposé.

Contents of the Course:

  • Information about the structure and writing style of scientific exposés
  • Special tips for doctoral exposés and applications for third-party funding
  • Discussion on examples of successful exposés
  • Getting to know and practising creative, written and structured methods
  • Feedback on your own ideas from the group and the trainer

Methods:

In order to keep the workshop entertaining and to practise, consolidate and translate the knowledge imparted into relevant results in the best possible way, a variety of methods are used. Short sequences of input alternate with individual and group work. The aim is also to integrate the knowledge of the participants into the workshop in the best possible way and to pick up everyone where they are with their experiences.

Participants:

The workshop is designed in such a way that participants from all phases of the doctorate can be considered, as well as students who are about to start a doctorate. Postdocs are also welcome to participate - their special situation would then be taken into account accordingly.

Conditions of participation

The course is primarily aimed at doctoral candidates at the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar and those interested in a doctorate. Participation is subject to a participation fee. This is a one-time fee of 15,00 € for doctoral candidates and master students of the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar. Please note the applicable conditions of participation according to the Terms of Usage for Qualification Courses at the Bauhaus Research School.
