This seminar offers a place for reflection on Russia's war on Ukraine and its consequences for Ukrainian cities. Together with Mariam Kunchuliya and Galyna Sukhomud, two Ukraine students in the Master programme „European Urban Studies“, the seminar intends to provide insights on the urban development and urban planning of Ukrainian cities as embedded into the country's wider socio-economic and cultural history, its experience of imperialism and colonial oppression, and war reality of today. Furthermore, tracing destruction and displacement, the seminar urges also to think about housing questions and futures of Ukrainian cities. Thus, the students are also invited to review international experiences on post-war reconstructions and its potential use for housing millions of currently displaced Ukrainian citizens again. |
| Bemerkung |
Students will be given the chance to work on issues related to the three main parts of the seminar, that is: Ukraine and Ukrainian cities general, urban and housing in the present situation and plans and ideas for reconstruction. It is expected that students will choose an issue which they want to research and present their findings in the seminar, so knowledge and ideas are shared with each other. |
