Architectural theory and pedagogy have not only been a face to face encounter with media, but tended to interact with the media of the day. Together with the new possibilities created through the media of photography, film, TV and radio, also architecture became a medium of mass media. This seminar will investigate how new methods of teaching architecture and architectural history were developed and interacted fundamentally with the mass media; they allowed for new networks and audiences and new forms of narrations and performativity of architecture.
Particularly in view of the current constraints on teaching and debating about architecture during the lockdown of the Corona virus pandemic in 2020 questions of media and materiality in media, reflections on the possibilities of new digital realities will be at the core of this seminar. |
