Can we measure when two people fall in love? (and also predict who would breakup!) Can we predict which teams would win even before the game starts? Which self care routines actually calms the nervous system? These are some of the questions that the field of physiological computing aims to answer. This project will explore selected frontier research topics in the field using a range of biomarkers and devices. Team will operate in small groups on a lean experimentation and analysis pipeline that lets them test new ideas in short sprints. Groups are encouraged to come up with their own experimental paradigms around the research topic, try them out quickly, see what works, and iterate. Strong results will then be followed up with larger studies. What matters throughout is the full cycle of a researcher: designing and conducting "interesting" experiments, analyzing data carefully, and landing on insights that are genuinely useful. The project is particularly suitable for someone who enjoys exploratory research, physiological computing, hands-on data analysis and... science! |
