This seminar provides practical, project-based training in quantitative and physiological research methods. Participants either pursue an original research idea or join an active project in the lab, working through the full research cycle: formulating a research question, planning and conducting a study, analyzing the resulting data, and writing up the findings as an academic paper. The semester is organized around three core phases — (1) defining the research question and planning the study, (2) data analysis, and (3) writing the paper — each anchored by a block session, along with three additional progress meetings interspersed with independent work. Throughout, participants receive continuous feedback from lab members and have access to lab space and mentoring. The seminar runs from October to March. Time: TBA Feedback meetings will be scheduled based on each team's pace of work. Ideally, they will coincide with the block sessions, plus one additional meeting toward the end of June. |

Assessment is based on active participation in the workshops, completion of a Moodle module on academic work practices, conducting an independent study, and writing an academic paper (submitted either as a student research paper to a conference, or internally to the lab). Papers are evaluated against academic quality standards appropriate to student-level work. This seminar is especially suited for students preparing for a thesis, wanting to build practical knowledge of quantitative and physiological research methods, or seeking hands-on research experience in a supportive environment with flexible deadline arrangements. |
