Radio Topologies explores listening, transmission, and presence through radio practices such as tuning, walking, streaming, and micro-broadcasting. Working with FM, shortwave, VLF, Narrowcasting and online radio streams, students engage with radio as something that occupies space, leaks through architecture, and connects distant places and times. Listening is treated as a bodily and relational practice, where noise, interference, and radio silence become artistic material.
The course begins with weekly sessions focused on artistic input, collective listening of radio frequencies and attunement, and gradually shifts toward concentrated full-day block sessions dedicated to transmission, performance, and collaborative radio work. During the blocks we will install our own icecast server instances and learn how a webradio works, make micro FM transmissions, explore different bands of radio frequencies, and design rehearse and realise a collective live radio piece.
Output format could include live radio performance, temporary radio stations, durational listening works, and broadcasts in collaboration with bauhaus.fm and Radio CASo, Buenos Aires |
