This class runs as a series of workshops and introduces practical design methods for creating and presenting interactive prototypes. Step by step, we will move from basic Figma tools and early sketches to structured wireframes, design systems, and interactive prototypes, while also practicing how to present design ideas in a clear and compelling way. The workshops will be led by Margarita Osipova, with sessions supported by external industry experts, including Olesya Kirillova (https://www.linkedin.com/in/olesia-kirillooova/), who will share professional insights and feedback on the current UX/UI landscape. An additional workshop will be dedicated entirely to portfolio review, with industry experts providing in-depth feedback on students’ work. Format & Schedule The course runs in block format on Saturdays, once per month. Between workshops, students will complete assignments based on the workshop content, gradually building toward a portfolio. The course is designed to be valuable both for those new to Figma and for experienced users looking to deepen their practice. - Workshop 1 (Nov–Dec): Primitives and Frames + Wireframes Library
- Workshop 2 (Jan): Design System + Interactive Prototype Intro
- Workshop 3 (Feb): Interactive Prototype Testing + Business Presentations
- Workshop 4 (Mar): Portfolio Review with Figma Experts
Exact dates will be announced in October. Most workshop sessions will be run online. In addition we plan a half-day in-person session with HCI-alumni with UX-jobs for October 25th, where they will talk about their own career and jobs (this is an open event, for all HCI students) – at the end of this, we will have a first short meeting for our class, where we will reflect on the session and discuss questions for this course. Assessment The grade for the course is based on active participation in the workshops and the quality of the final portfolio. Attendance is mandatory.
