Goethe-Institut and the Experimental Radio Chair of Bauhaus-Universit\u00e4t Weimar are pleased to announce the second artist-in-residence, Marialuisa Capurso for the period 15. September-15. December 2021.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Goethe-Institut and the Chair of Experimental Radio at Bauhaus-University Weimar are please to announce Marialuisa Capurso, as the second artist-in-residence for the period September 15.- December 15, 2021.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The Radio Art Residency aims to promote independent artistic work and support the realisation of new artworks. From the use of the radio as an exhibition space for artwork to a real-time medium, the residency offers a wide range of creative possibilities for artistic practice.<\/span><\/p>\n

Artists from more than 70 countries all over the globe answered the second open call of the artist-in-residence program in July 2021. Once more the proposed projects ranged from podcasts to radio compositions\/plays, sound installations to live performances, using archival or newly created material to show the worldwide growing interest in Radio Art.<\/span><\/p>\n

The jury \u2013 consisting of representatives from Goethe Institut, Bauhaus-Universit\u00e4t Weimar, Deutschlandfunk Kultur, Galerie Eigenheim Weimar\/Berlin and the previous artist in residence \u2013 finally chose to invite\u00a0the Italian artist Marialuisa Capurso with her project:\u00a0RUBEDO.<\/span><\/p>\n

RUBEDO is a process of radio compositions, workshops and collaborative work with the aim of contributing to the transformation of the oppressive and abusive power of patriarchy.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Marialuisa Capurso is a singer, sound artist, composer and researcher in the field of voice, movement, body performance, visual art, improvisation and rituality. Her work creates space for breathing, transforming and embracing issues to sublimate them into a space of listening. She investigates and explores the realm of acoustic sounds and electronic interfaces as extensions of the human voice. She is furthermore very interested in the sacrality of the connection between voice and movement.<\/span><\/p>\n

She earned a Bachelor degree in jazz music at the Conservatory \u201cN.Piccinni\u201d of Bari,and a Master degree in new musical languages at the Conservatory \u201cN.Rota\u201d of Monopoli. She has been training around the world with diverse musicians, dancers and artists such asMeredith Monk, Patricia Pardi, Carl Berger, Kent Carter, William Parker, Faheem Mazar, amongst others.<\/span><\/p>\n

She will start her residency in Weimar as from September 15 2021.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The last artist-in-residence Masimba Hwati completed his stay in Weimar after a 3 months period (March-June 2021) with several performances, radio shows, artist talks and a radio art composition under the title Mshika-Shika that will be broadcasted on the 22nd<\/sup>\u00a0of October at 00:05 CET on Deutschlandfunk Kultur. Mshika-Shika is a piece about alternative power structures, collective self-empowerment, about rebellion and unruliness.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Radio Art Residency Weimar is as a joint project between Goethe-Institut and the Bauhaus-Universit\u00e4t Weimar in cooperation with the University of Music Franz Liszt, Deutschlandfunk Kultur, EIGENHEIM Weimar\/Berlin, ACC Galerie Weimar and Radio Lotte.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n
