SUSTAINABLE AESTHECTICS

Under sustaiable aesthetics I consider a work and thought process that considers not just the goal but also low usage of resources, money, waste, quality, acessibility (high production waste and shipping of certain materials) and raw materials. Finding a concept that already considers the necessity of being sustainable. Finding a system and an aesthetics that is cohesive, round but still low in production and waste. The design should not just be visual orientated but more focused on functionality.

In Maintenance art an installation or artwork that if not maintained will destroy itself or decay. If the plan is not to maintain the artwork forever, consider which materials will be reusable (shall stay untouched not soldered etc.) and which could be biodegradable or decay anyways.

OLD CONCEPT

At the first stage of my project, I want to create a map that visualizes the connections and observations that I made. I will be experimenting with different foods and ingredients from different companies and places. For the second stage I want to build some sort of device that will make me able to compare my perception of food with chemical/sensor based “facts” of these foods. Aiming for a device that will help me get my taste back might be a bit too high, but something in the direction of helping would already be a step closer to getting it back.
