Geometric Systems

This is the second block of the workshop series GMU:Self-Organisation by Design

Theory

A Geometric System is a Self-Organizing System where mobile units have a geometric representation in space.
Geometric Systems are natural extensions of Particle Systems, but they require more complex calculations to determine interactions, relying on distance computation and collision detection.

We will use the term Physical Geometry to refers to systems where a set of physical laws governs the interaction between units. In our course we will create physical geometry from scratch, but also and learn how to harness the power of physics libraries.

Finally Chemical Geometry shall be used to identify systems where the laws of interaction are goverened by properties of the chemical units, giving rise to complexity not available in Physcial Geometry. We will explore the assembly of mobile units, as well as folding of connected units, inspired by research in self-assembly and protein folding.
