GMU:DIY Bio: doing things with biology/Paola Stephania Calderón/Farming 3

From Medien Wiki
  • Day 1: The second group of bacteria was made from one extreme with the living specimens, from the other one with sleeping specimens and the food was placed in the middle of the Petri-box. After one week both bacterias growth in direction of the food and then mixed up. A hypothesis about its big growing compared with the specimens that were located in my room, is that they haven't had the presence of light in one week. More food/leaflets are placed inside the Petri. box.

  • Day 2: With the new food, the specimen started to grow around the new food supplies. There is something white in the center of the Petri box, it could be also contamination another specimen inside the box.

  • Day 3: The specimens continue growing around the other leaflets except one that seems to have something white on top of it. The white center thing hasn't grown anymore.

Day 4: The white center thing hasn't grown but there is another specimen also in this Petri box. My selected specimen seems to be moving to the border of the plate.

  • Day 7: Around the food is growing a new specimen of purple color.

  • Day 8: The Petri box is open in order to take pictures of the specimens, the results of this are the following:

A specimen of the purple yellow region is taken in order to dry it and put it in a sleeping mode. In the dried form they lose their strong colors. Bio-02c9.png Bio-02c10.png

  • CONCLUSIONS: The specimen has the ability to combine itself with more specimens of its own nature, from the three samples, this one is the only one that acquires a purple color, my theory is that this two samples generated some kind of chemical reaction when they merged with each other.
