''First Meeting:'' Wednesday, April 29 2014, 11:30 h

==Beschreibung==

==English description==
We are inviting students, guests and lecturers to present their works. There will be a brief discussion afterwards.

== Anmeldung ==

==Zielgruppe==
Alle Bachelor- und Master-Studenten, Absolventen und Mitarbeiter der Professur Interface-Design.

== Hinweise für Vortragende ==

== Notes for Speakers ==

If you feel you have something interesting to share, please contact us. We are always looking for interesting things to share and talk about.

Typically, we have two presentations per meeting. There is a projector with VGA Connector. If you need Sound or a Computer, please contact [[User:Mm|Michael]]. If you bring your presentation on a USB-Stick, please use either Mac-Keynote or PDF, because we may or may not find a Windows-PC with Powerpoint.

To connect to the internet, you can use the "eduroam" WiFi network. If you have no University login, please get in touch, so we can arrange a guest account.

The language of your talk (German/English) is up to you to decide. Usually, there are about 5 to 10% Students that understand English better than German.

The presentation should have a duration of about ~ 20 minutes. Please understand that we need to stop the talk after 30 minutes latest, because there should be time for feedback, questions and short discussions.

* Pattern C
In this pattern I wanted to draw the same checkerboard pattern but this time, all the squares would rotate on their own axis to reveal the one behind it (with a different color). So far I have not been able to do so, as the squares insist on all rotating from the same point. I'm uploading this while I try to figure it out, if someone else has an idea feel free to post it here.
==Beschreibung==

Themen:
* siehe englische Auflistung

'''Hinweis:''' Wer mit mehreren Endgeräten und Web-Synchronisation arbeiten will, dem wird der gleichzeitige Besuch des Werk-/Fachmoduls von Kollege Gabriel Rausch empfohlen, das auch auf Serverseitige Programmierung eingeht. Aus zeitlichen Gründen können wir das in diesem Kurs nicht tun.

==English description==

==EHH? THE GAME==
The concept of my project is based on knowing the unknown. Ever since I moved to Germany I have been dealing with new cultures, people, languages and so on. The experience of being in a place where not only the language but also the way the people move, react, eat, dance, express is different was and is still a big challenge to me.

Being surrounded by different cultures and languages gave me the inspiration to develop the idea of this project. Istanbul to me was also unknown, so I took the challenge again, to try to understand their culture, dealing with a new language, people, and so on.

This time I thought of sharing my experience. I wanted the people who are in a known environment and culture to feel and interact with the unknown. This is how the idea of developing a "language" game came up.

'''Why Ehh?'''

Eh is a spoken interjection in many languages such as English, Armenian, Hokkien Chinese, Japanese, French, Italian, Greek, Hebrew, Spanish, Persian, Portuguese, and Catalan and many others that is similar in meaning to "Excuse me," "Please repeat that" or "huh?". Even if you do not know any of these languages you can still understand the meaning of Eh?. This is the concept of the game, even if you can not speak some languages you can still recognize them either with sounds, movements or cultural characteristics.

There is a story behind every video of the game. People from many countries of the world made a 10 seconds video where the only task was to say and express whatever they wanted to in their own language.

Ehh? the Game was ready to go to Istanbul and be played for the first time by unknown people in their own known places.

==ISTANBUL==
Before going to Istanbul I had a few clichés in mind that I wanted to figure out. Some of them were that turkish are very conservative people, not very open-minded, very nationalist and so on.

So my first challenge was to display a game in the city through the relatively new QR code technology.

===Step 1 Displaying the game===
I chose the neighborhood of Beyoğlu to display the game. This area is well-known for its young 24/7 life. How? The game was linked to a QR code sticker. People were supposed to scan the code with their smartphones and immediatly start playing the game. The whole neighborhood of Beyoğlu was spammed with the codes and the people were starting to get very curious about them.

===Step 2 Getting feedback===
After a week that the "QR codes ehh-Spam" was on the streets, I started to get involved with the people who were scanning and playing on the street. I asked for they opinions and whether they would like to be part of the game.
They were all very open with me even if they did not know me. Almost all of them loved the game and wanted to keep on playing. The interesting thing came when I asked them to be part of the game, with their own language. To my surprise many of them, even if they were born in Turkey, wanted to do it in another language such as Armenian, Greek, even Kurdish. And this is how the second part of the game came up.

===Step 3 Languages behind Languages===
Something I found very interesting during my stay in Istanbul, is how diverse and full of stories a city can be. While I was getting the feedback of the game, some interesting stories came up. Immigration, territorial, political and social stories from which I got very excited and inspired to develop the second part of the game.
Languages behind Languages is based on the many diversities in one city. Even if turkish is the main language in Turkey, there are many other either languages or dialects hidden in the whole country. So this time, the people in the game are speaking in their own languages, the one from which their families emigrated from.

==SUMMARY 2012==
For the Summary Exposition I displayed the game throw the QR codes. To better understand the project I made three other codes linked to different videos which explained the story behind the game. Finally the fourth code was the game.

==KNOWING THE UNKNOWN==
The challenge that I took of going to Istanbul and braking the myths and clichés that I had before being there and interacting with the people was 100% positive. Istanbul is a wonderful city, with a very open-minded youth willing to change the social, political, conservative barriers that they have.

The game is still running, the people are still playing thanks to the feedback on Facebook (http://www.facebook.com/Ehhthegame). The number of visitors is still increasing having the most numbers of visitors in Turkey.

<videoflash type=vimeo>50883720|500|280</videoflash>

== (e) Solitude ==
''by Vanessa Murillo, Stephanie Massarelli, Jorgelina Garcia.''

Since the Internet appeared, the ways of communication changed,
and this affected people’s lifestyles.

Technology has become the architect of our intimacies; we live exclusively in relation to others and what disappears from our lives is solitude. Technology is taking away our privacy and our concentration and it is also taking away our capacity for being alone. This project is an experiment to try and go back to ourselves, to look inside and find our little space of solitude.

After a long investigation into the subject, we observed that many opinions and experiences about it were different, but based on the same things. That is why we decided to make our first approach the building of what we called “The Solitude Box”. We wanted to create a physical space of solitude. We created a room as an environment in order to collect peoples thoughts by giving them the chance of being isolated and, if they wished, to give an answer to the question: ''Was denkst du wenn du allein bist?'' (''What do you think when you are alone?'')

The installation took place in the Mensa, the student’s restaurant in the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar. The place was not randomly picked. We didn’t want to have the box in an isolated space, but in a place where people go as part of their everyday routine, and suddenly they find a strange, big, black box that invites them to go in, but with one condition; that they do it ALONE. It was an invitation to isolate themselves during the course of their everyday routine, even if the noise was still out there.

This social experiment was a big challenge for us. During the installation, we were observing people’s reactions; some of them just passed by, without even noticing the big black structure. Some others were just curious, they took a look from outside and kept on walking. An interesting behavior that we observed was that many persons that were going inside the box, were not respecting the rules that clearly said GO INSIDE ALONE, and instead they were going in as a group, as if they were afraid to be alone in there. Kids where also very curious about the box, and somehow played with it, they used the structure as part of the scenarios in their imaginative worlds while playing. There were also people that understood what was happening. They respected the rules of the box, took their time and wrote.
== The (e) Solitude Sound Story ==
''by Jorgelina Garcia''

We collected 56 different thoughts from the "Solitude Box". Almost all of them different, but at the same time connected: deep, naive, superficial, negative, positive. I personally found them very interesting, and could find many different analysis also by comparing them with my own concept, experience and vision of solitude.

My work is based on what happened inside the box, but adapted to my own interpretation of this new concept of solitude. It is a fictional representation of my own head, my inner voice, my inner sound. An expression of what I think is happening with our private space, our freedom and individuality. A statement of how our imagination, our sometimes nonsense thoughts that used to take us to great ideas, are starting to vanish because of the huge increase of ways and “needs” of communication and socialization. It is about a new generation that might be getting enriched by the technological opportunities of this new era, but that is clearly losing the sense of individuality and the importance of being by oneself.

== (e) Solitude ==
