Description (EN)
"Shared Habitats II" (as an extension and deepening of the Shared Habitats project) understands our habitat as one in which we are not alone: we share it with countless fellow beings near and far, with other living beings, things, machines, and artifacts. Our well-being is built on an atmosphere created over epic periods of time by the action of these beings, which is not divisible but shared destiny.

In the project we align artistic action and ideological reflection with possible new forms of coexistence between human and non-human actors. In experiments, actions, interventions, artifacts, designs will be tried out and evaluated.

In the module we want to produce construction kits, sample catalogs, istallations, manuals, recipes, action plans, apparatuses, game plans or other forms of proposals that help to make our civilization sustainable, thriving and peaceful.

Description (DE)

Shared Habitats was the title of now three exhibitions by students of the Bauhaus University [http://shared-habitats.eu/ ] as well as of a book that is currently being published. In the module, we understand our living space as a habitat in which we are not alone: we share it with countless fellow humans near and far, with other living beings, machines and objects. Our well-being is built on an atmosphere that has been created over epic periods of time by the actions of these beings, which is not divisible but shared destiny.

In the module, we will look in particular at the "habits to share," the habits and strategies for action that are necessary if we are to make our civilization sustainable, thriving, and peaceful.
In the module, interactions, strategies or objects for a Shared Habitat are to be created, interfaces, but also techniques, manuals, online tools - in short, everything that is necessary to agree on coordinated, collective practices within our environment.
Let the world know how your vision of a Shared Habitat will look like!

The module essentially offers the opportunity to carry out individual artistic-creative projects in your own conception within the scope of Shared Habitats. You are expected to develop a self-motivated and self-organized project idea and realize it until the end of the module. The plenum initiates open dialogue about your projects and the in-between steps. The plenum offers a culture of exchange and discussion that builds on the participation of the participants.

The module will be conducted virtually as online conferences until the End of June with face to face meetings at the end of the semester in July.
In the project "The Concert of Microorganism", a microorganism-Music interactive installation is designed. As the extension of the last Project, it becomes more complete and interesting.
The Code of the program:

Project
For my project, I am going to build a Euglena-Music interactive game. I set up the observation area, and the area is displayed on my computer. The scene is recorded and transferred to our software, where the imported videos/frames is going to be combined with virtual objects. The virtual objects are several squares, which are colorful squares as keys of tones, at a constant position in the scene from the video. The tones are namely：CDEFGA. If a square is virtually hit by Euglena (my creature's name), the corresponding tone is going to played by the computer. I record these tones, and play it as a song by Euglena.
I'm going to ask players to anticipate the project. After they set up the observation area, they are going to be asked to put Euglena in to the area by themselves. When the entering positions are different, the song is going to be a different style as I suppose.

Third Week
I cooked the Medium for Euglena this week. It was interesting!
File:xinyue4.png
</gallery>

Observations
I have observed the Euglena for these weeks, after I cultivated them to a larger amount. As shown in the following pictures and the video, Euglena moves slowly. They looked thin when I observed them, so I think maybe they need more food:) I would like to borrow a more powerful microscope later, and film some more clear videos. And then I can make the virtual game based on it.
File:草履虫3.jpg
</gallery>

Inspiration
The technique of object tracking is the most import part of my project. The introduction is in the following documents. They shows the details of the technique I learned.
<gallery>
</gallery>

Implementation
My coding work about object tracking is summarized in the following screen shot.

The results of object tracking for euglena is shown following.

The result based on the updated coding work. The position data are collected, and the tracking program works very well. The problem is checking the activation of the tone key.

</gallery>

</gallery>

</gallery>

Inspiration
The technique of object tracking is the most import part of my project. The introduction is in the following documents. They shows the details of the technique I learned.

Implementation
My coding work about object tracking is summarized in the following screen shot.

The results of object tracking for euglena is shown following.

Project
For my final project, I am going to build a Euglena-Music interactive game.
