The main interest of this project was to link two different tracking system technologies. After the execution of my main project in VR, which used the data provided by the Captury Live software, I wanted to push further the notion of tracking systems and link the information and data granted by the inside of the DBL and bring it outside of the room, to a public space.

Therefore it was necessary to record the movements of people inside the performance platform, in this case, two people dancing. Captury Live would convert such movements into importable data to Unity 3D.

Having accomplished the first tracking within the DBL, the next step was to introduce the data in a new project of Unity, then the dancing animations were provided with different bodies, speeds, and positions. This new project would work based on one of the latest technologies developed by Vuforia (an augmented reality SDK compatible with Unity) the ground plane detection.
<br>

<br>
As such technology allows smartphones' cameras to track and detect the ground, the prefabs that would be "augmented" would be the dancers fetched inside the DBL. Once the app is built on a smartphone, users must allow the camera to find the ground and then tap the screen, consequently, the augmented bodies will perform their dance in real time and in the space that the user is in.

Public Dance features the power of two different tracking technologies Captury Live and Vuforia ground plane detection. Meaning an event like this which happens inside the performance platform can be transported on anyone's phone, and get activated in any public space.

From the body to the city

engl:
Abraham moles described the individual in a urban context embedded in shells with different reach, conditions and meanings. The inner shell is the body and the outside is the cosmos. The first step out of the body requires the construction of space: it becomes a location of unfolding and exchange. Space is what we share with others, what we occupy and differentiate from influences. Which are the influences on the body and how are we reacting to the dissolution of limits through contemporary media (internet, VR) and their spheres? How do we act within the multiplicity of these shells whereas the body remains the ultimate condition of every experience?
Within the project we want to take the sensual dimension of our experience as a starting point for installations, performances, videos, objects, displays and interfaces. The project addresses Master Students and offers a frame for self-organized and responsible development of artistic artifacts and the related discourse and exchange. Deliverable is an art or design project suitable for exhibition/presentation/performance.

BfA:

<br>
<br>

The main targets of my master’s research are: Underlining the dichotomy of Reality and Hyperreality in our virtual era, revisiting the notion of the Screen as a peephole to other dimensions, the constant implementation of trompe l’oeil apparatus throughout history and its aim to create a connection with the spectator, set a connection between Derrida’s Hauntology and Merleau-Ponty’s otherness, to finally arrive to the notion of being uncanny in a virtual world. All concepts that go hand in hand with new media technologies such as Telepresence and Virtual Reality and Augmented Virtuality.

Last semester I worked on an Augmented Reality project. "Talking to the other side" the project that mixes, Vuforia, Unity3D and sockets with tangible devices typically used as divination methods. The interactive scenario is a blend of technologies of the virtual era and tricks inspired by long time trompe l’oeil techniques. All paraphernalia that could in the end create an aperture of two screens and possibilitate the space for them to talk. These two screens in the virtual realm talk the same language, codes, and in the real realm they want to connect to find a deeper meaning of the existence.
<br>Talking to the other side
<br>Ouroboros

At this point of my technical interests I need to immersed myself in Virtual Reality, and experiment with environment creation powered by 3d modelling in order to create a truly Mixed Reality environment. I would like to create an interactive space in which the public can travel through a tangible space and encounter different approaches to reality from AR, VR and artistical intallations mainly built as projections such as mapping. The general aim is to set a plotline in which all realities appear in a continuum order to the spectator, making him interact with each one of them and complete a Ouroboros journey where everything is simultaneous and infinite, because the Ouroboros is the eternal begining in the eternal end.

This course emphasises artistic and opposing ways of working with Virtual Reality. Its aim is to establish individual approaches to VR, an increasingly widespread medium which
the topic of VR which will be presented in the form of individual projects at the end of the semester.
<br>
<br>
The aim of this project is to establish a conversation between two spaces, creating a Mixed Reality telepresent conversation.

On each stage a person is going to interact with a real object, let’s call this the Reality Realm.
Then when each object is perceived by a camera the data enters the Realm of Virtuality.
As a result augmented reality images are projected onto a Mixed Reality Realm.

On one stage we have a person interacting with a Ouija Board, the user looks to the board with a set of Augmented Reality goggles, the projection is a AR planchette placed on top of the board. This is called Optical See-Through.

On stage two another person interacts with a dice, the user throws the dice on top of a interactive surface, each 6 sides of the dice has different images, the image that is looking upwards gets detected by a camera, and ultimately an AR animation is projected on the interactive surface.

To this point everything is working on Unity, the goal of the project is to connect this two stages and make them talk through WebSockets. <br><br>
On stage one a person will ask a yes/no question, and the user on stage 2 will hear the question and trigger a answer by throwing the dice. Each side of the dice means a different answer, so for example if the person on Stage 1 asks “Is there anyone there?” The person on Stage 2 would throw the dice and the image detected by the camera is “YES” a first AR animation will be projected on our interactive surface in Stage 2 and at the same time a “YES Animation” of the planchette will be triggered on top of the Ouija board on Stage 1, giving the first person the answers, which in this case would be YES.

Ultimately 2 people will talk to each other, in different “languages”, where Mixed Reality will act as a translator between the Reality and the Virtuality and where the answers will not be controlled by them, instead this paraphernalia of typical games of fortune telling will be the ones to have control over the whole conversation, maybe by a third entity from the other side.

Things to work on:<br>
-Connection of Unity3d platform to Node.js.<br>
-Properly synthesize instructions on each side so that both users trigger the events in the right way and time.<br>
-For the audio broadcast: work with Google Speech API, adaptable for both Unity3d and Node.js.<br>
----
The videosphere is the third mediasphere introduced by Regis Debray as the era of virtual gaze. <br>
Inside the videosphere's virtual gaze:<br>
Reality - Vitual Reality - Mixed Reality - Augmented Virtuality.
----
Hyperreality as the simulation and augmentation of reality and Hypo-reality as a minor and dull level of reality.
<br>Hyperreality: Simulacrum, Simulation, Veils, Videosphere, Baudrillard.
<br>Reality: The trauma, The Sartre’s Nausea, Immanent, Materiality, Graphosphere, Zizek.
<br>Hyporreality: Innate, Spiritual, Transcendent, Logosphere, Kant.
----
Uncanny, from German Unheimlich, refers to something that is strangely familiar and causes unsettling feelings. Heidegger's Being Uncanny not as a mere feeling but as a perpetual state of angst whilst facing existence, and facing fluctuation between realities.
