INTRODUCTION.
When we create this project, we think about the society in Istanbul, for us was really important to create a conection with the people of Istanbul. At the beggining of this project we ask our self what can we do to get in touch with the “real” people of Turkey. As foreigners of this country, we try to saw the daily life of the city in the short period that we were there. Knowing people taking to them and as well trying to be part of them, we discover how different is the culture as we imagine (stereotypes). Is hard to describe a daily life in a city in a short time but we can say that this city impressed us.
Is a city where the economical contrast is very present, also where the religion a enormous power has but at the same time he contradicts himself. All of this situations inspired us to make intervensions in the public areas of istanbul
We meet incredible students from the marmara university who help us to develop our city faces project.

CONCEPT.
The main concept of this project was to show the expirinces that we experiment there. We catch in video the most impresive moments of our stay in Istanbul. we try to collect many videos to show the culture and the daily life in this huge city. After one week we take the city as a museum and with a projector we reproduced those images in the streets that some how were conected with this videos. We saw the reaction of the people in a positive way, the students of the marmara university give us the idea to recreate the same idea in germany. thats why we decide to project the same images in Weimar. For us was a really nice experience to show those videos in a different country. This project was made with a lot of feelings inside and therefor we received the positive aceptation in the two countries.

PROBLEMS.
Evidently the projections on public spaces needs to be make it during the night. A small problem was that many of the stores were closed. We needed the support of many stores to get electricity for the technic (proyector and computer). We walked trought the city in the night searching for the perfect places to proyect. We made some test from our window in hostel and like that get to know how can we work faster. This test helped us to recognize in wish point of the proyect we need technical help, therefore we decided to make the proyections with the help of one of our classmate (Regina Raush) who fix the projection with the program (mapping). As well we discover the best position for the proyector, many angles, hight and several changes for the projection in the points that we wanted to do it. At the end we get the support that we need it for, electricity and a place to put the projector.

CONCLUSIONS.
With this project we realized that the perception of life in many countries is different. It is not just about Germany and Turkey. The cultural diferences are also between our native countries (Colombia and Spain).
Something that untill now catch our attention is the time, the time in each city in different and move in different ways. The little details are in general dificult to see. We were really lucky to get to know the people from the marmara University and for this reason was easier to get in contact with the people there not as turist. They helped us not only with the language, they were the whole time with us, walking, visitng the people, and showing us the most interesting places in the city (where they work and where they live).
The fact to know one city in this way, expand our visions of the world and also in the artistic way. For us art is also to get into different cultures and work with them.

FINAL PRESENTATION.
For the final presentation in the bauhaus university (summery 2012). We prepared a video documentation showing the proyections that we did in istanbul. In this documentation we includ the test of the proyect and how was the days during our stay there.
English description
Through the project we aim to explore interactive practices and media formats, that are suitable to shape common experiences in public space.
In contrast to the one-way communication of mass media spectacles we aim to explore processes that allow different types of participation. On a concrete level we aim to experiment with a range of sensor modules, for example the citizen sensor (http://citizensensor.cc/) as well as "perception devices"‚ that employ multiple sensors and cameras, sensors for animals in public space, video and photo traps, video mapping and so on.
The project will be commonly prepared by students of Urban Development and
students of Media Art and Design. During the first part of the semester we will be working towards a two-week study trip to Istanbul. On-site the students from Weimar will collaborate with local students from Istanbul in groups of two or three.
Each group will develop and execute their own project idea within a more general assignment.

Beschreibung

Wissentschaftliches Modul
How can the people get to know a city deeply if is a tourist.
Im from barcelona and now im living in weimar. In this moment I'm part of the master program in media art and design but before i study cello in barcelona thats why the music and the sound are a really important part in my life.

I think a person from istanbul listen the sounds of the city different than we like a foreigners people. the feeling of the sounds its different for each person and in this way the people express the sounds in his personal way.

i would like to contact somo musicians in istanbul that show me the specials parts of the city and like that also a personal meaning.after we will recreate the sounds that in this place we can hear.

Doing this project i would like to show that the reality its subjetive.

- how its the reaction of the people? they are going to take an important place in my project

- how can i do my performance? search for the perfect place to represent that.

We started with a basic idea to mix media, music and dance. Julia Palao, she is a cellist from barcelona who began to discover the media art. Sebastian Prince a professional dancer who is fascinated by the new performing arts. we need to be honest, for us was a really difficult way to start something so unknow, but in the end we achieved the result that we wanted. Our performance in simple words is basically about dance through pure date that begins to move when the music sounds. The dance was recorded in video. the music was live presented and likewise the two artistic fields created a mix between music, dance and media.

Steps
The first step was to research for ideas, after we look if were possible to make it. by and by the experimentation taked the most important part of the project because at this point you realize what do you want to do. then we improvice with some videos that we have and with different patches that we did in the different meeting during the year. The final presentation was performed in a class room with some videos that we did in places of weimar and the university.

Problems
The main problem were based in our lack of knowledge at the beginning of the course. We were very confused and we did not know were we could get. During the progress, the programation was really difficult, but with the different explications we develop our main idea.

The membrane as the heart of the sculpture contracts and expands representing the inhalation and exhalation.<br /><br />
Breathing is a visualization of the sound emitted by the living beings surrounding the sculpture.
PROJECT DESCRIPTION:

My work in In Sync began with an interest in developing skills in Pure Data in order to program audiovisual environments. When I arrived in Weimar, I was immediately attracted to the elusive early morning fog that inundated the Thüringian landscape. For obvious reasons, fog has long been a subject of fascination for many visual artists; it tends to obfuscate objects and erase horizons; it invokes a sense of mystery and reminds one of the power of nature. One particular aspect of the fog that attracted me was its uniformity-both in terms of density and movement. Subsequently, I began thinking about the properties of fog --in its most simple form, water particles that cling to dust/debris--and the climate conditions necessary to its formation. After several attempts to represent the effect of fog on a filmed landscape, I became interested in how its spatial and temporal existence could be recreated in an installation environment. My research culminated in a proposal for an interactive installation that provides both a real-time and mediated experience of fog. As my project evolved, I aimed to find a linchpin between the creative and technical aspects of production. Through a largely experimental approach to programming in pure data, I further shaped my concept. The following examples serve to provide insight into my research and creative processes.

I would like to make a short film which is about my self. The viewers can select each video clips among 9~12 short films. I have been making many videos which is about my life in order to think about who I am and really glad that Pure Data is able to visualize what I have dreamed to make.
This work will be an interactive film which can work together with viewers.
Breathing is an interactive Sculpture that creates organic movements by the interaction of sound. The sculpture is inspired by the anatomic structure of the respiratory system, such as lungs, diaphragm and thorax. The membrane as the heart of the sculpture contracts and expands representing the inhalation and exhalation.<br /><br />
Breathing is a visualization of the sound emitted by the living beings surrounding the sculpture. The sound waves transmitted by the air we breathe influences the movement of the membrane. The sculpture responds either to a whole room or to an interaction of a individual person.

Our performance in simple words is basically about dance through pure date that begins to move when the music sounds. The dance was recorded in video. the music was live presented and likewise the two artistic fields created a mix between music, dance and media.

During my exchange year here in Weimar, I have collected a lot of letters, e-mails, drawings and other forms of messages from home. Within these letters is the story of how I tried to stay connected with my friends and family in spite of the physical distance separating us. In my project, I want to reflect upon the difficulties of staying in touch and keeping relationships alive while living far away. The I have collected, these words written by my friends, they will be the basis of my project. I want to use these words as the building blocks for my project. I want to reflect on what they mean below their definition, I want to use to them to show how I have dealt with distance.
