Dissolving & Liquefying - The Aesthetics of Homeopathy

The Influence of Homeopathic Solutions on the Structure of Water/Patterns (Salt Crystals)

As Crystals, especially water/ice crystals are the most sensitive medium, vibrations/information coming from the homeopathic matter (Bella donna, arsenicum album, aconitum, ferrum phosphoricum, arnica and many more ;all C potencies) could influence the structure of Crystals.
Based on Masaru Emoto's Theory, in which even sounds and images are able to influence the crystalization of water under ideal conditions, Ioannis Oriwol and my experiment aims for visual differences and interesting patterns, generated by completely natural low potency substances, to use as a modern art work.

The Principle of Homeopathy is to dissolve matter till it is theoretically and scientifically not anymore in the solution. "100 drops alcohol to 1 drop of a homeopathic substance --> Dissolving Process makes it 1/100/100/100/100 etc. depending on the potency aimed for.

The Images we captured with the microscope of many different crystals will be shown with a Beamer that is projecting through an Aquarium filled with water, to literally "liquefy" the Images shown. Just as the homeopathic substances were liquefied before introduced to the salt solution.

==Description==
Zu beginn des 20. Jahrhunderts begannen Menschen, Code zu schreiben, um Maschinen zu betreiben. Zu Beginn des 21. Jahrhunderts entdeckte die Wissenschaft einen sehr alten und natürlichen Code: die DNA. Der Workshop soll die Studierenden der MKG in diesen Code und seinen Eigenschaften auf einfache und sichere Art einführen.

Zentral für Life Sciences und Biotechnologie sind Methoden zur Vervielfältigung und Analyse des genetischen Materials. Hier kommen Geräte ins Spiel, die für Laien unerschwinglich sind, weshalb die Praxis der modernen Biologie einer breiten gesellschaftlichen Reflexion und Partizipation bisher verschlossen bleibt.

Ziel dieses Workshops ist es aufzuzeigen, wie selbst gebaute Alternativgeräte individuelle Beteiligung und Erkundung im Rahmen der "Citizen Science" (Bürgerwissenschaften) und die künstlerische Reflexion "hands-on" ermöglichen. Vermittelt werden (1) die notwendigsten Grundlagen in molekular- und mikrobiologischer Arbeit, (2) in Elektrotechnik und Programmierung zum erfolgreichen Aufbau geeigneter Geräte und (3) die Entwicklung und praktische Bearbeitung molekularbiologischer Fragestellungen nach wissenschaftlichen Standards.

Die Teilnehmer werden damit befähigt, als Multiplikatoren eigene "Citizen Science"-Projekte zu realisieren und/oder im Rahmen der individuellen künstlerischen Bearbeitung der Materie einen sehr viel konkreteren Zugang zur modernen Biologie zu finden.

Der Workshop findet auf Englisch statt.

Science_2_Arts: Molecular Biology entering the public space
At the beginning of the 20th century we were beginning to use code to handle machines. Now, at the beginning of the 21th century science has discovered a very old and natural code: the DNA. Aim of the workshop is to show DIY methods to explore and multiply the DNA and to prepare it for analysation.
The course gives an introduction to the production of DIY tools for Biolabs.
