In the middle of the room stands a model, which is exactly the room itself (1: 20 scale). A webcam is set inside the model to capture outer images through the window of the model. In realtime, those images are projected proportionally onto the real window.

The entire installation is kind of a close system. Participants become elements of the system. The actions of participants are captured by the camera, start the loop, and as a result became the image on window , which are the actions themselves.

I found an interesting phenomenon while observing visitors during the summaery time. People mostly behave as they discover nothing when they come along. However, when visitors come as a group, they can easily get the idea by looking at others' images (which are projected onto the window).

The installation is designed for single person. People getting watched while he is watching. If replace the word ‘watch’ into other words such as ‘observe’ or ‘monitor’, the meaning could become ruminated. The state of being alone and unconscious suit exactly for the meaning of ’monitor‘: you have no idea that it is a scene of watching; you have no idea of being watched; you have no idea of what you are watching, while by what you are being watched. And you yourself are the trigger and receiver of everything.
In the middle of the room stands a model, which is exactly the room itself (1: 20 scale). A webcam is set inside the model to capture outer images through the window of the model. In realtime, those images are projected proportionally onto the real window.

==Description==
More than 30 years after its debut in a science fiction story, "cyberspace" seems to have vanished. What started in 1982 as a name for the "closed loop" between computer game and player, system and user, and what bloomed during the 1990s as a name of a new, placeless and virtual reality, today is at most left as a prefix for "sex" and "war".

Time for a fresh look onto "cyber" and "space". We examine "cyber" as the revolution in the technosciences of the 1940s that was named Cybernetics – and its relation to algorithms and interaction. We look at computer art, which from its beginning was deeply related to Cybernetics, and which later accompanied the cyber-hype with „interactive art“ installations. We view the internet, which proves every day that virtual space is not necessarily spatial at all. And we examine "space" from perspectives of art and science (from Closed Circuit to Cognitive Science), that do not stop at the idea of three-dimensionality but understand space as the result of action – a view that in turn directly relates to the ideas of Cybernetics.

The project aims at developing practical projects that constitute contemporary positions in art and design dealing with these topics.

===German description===

==Description==

===German description===

==Description==

===German description===

==UNTITLED ==

Like anywhere else around the world, big family used to live together in a big house, different form nowadays, that we live in small apartments with our partners or only with our own. Chinese people used to live with their parents and grandparents. Three generations live under one roof is quite common, and it will be considered as a gigantic happiness if 4 or even 5 generations can live together. It's more like a family community, each couple have their own life and space, but as the same time they live extremely close to each other.

We'd like to share those memories. With sound and maybe only with sound, we try to present a time and a place which seems to be everlasting, but is about to vanish in resent decades.

The space itself is abstract. Sounds are realistic, and they could provide some details, encouraging participates to generate their own imaginations on the intangible environment.

Therefor, the form of this project is trying to create an intangible space in another existing space, which has no relation, both temporally and geographically，to the created space.

We choose '''''Si-he-yuan''''' to be the created space. For the replaced space, we are thing of using the classroom or half of the working room in Marienstr. 9.
The name literally means a courtyard surrounded by four buildings.
The project we are working on, which still remains untitled, is an interactive installation that imitates a certain atmosphere unique to the city of Beijing in the 1980s.

During the process of modernization and urbanization, old architectural styles are being replaced by apartment buildings and skyscrapers. It seems like the price you have to pay for new developments. However, as a result, residents and aboriginal inhabitants are forced to be spectators of reforms, from which creates huge gaps in society. The loss is not only about the vanishing old houses, but also the no-longer-existence of a clustered life style. The definition of a family enclosed within the walls of the old-style family houses, which we used to valued a lot, changes along with the modifications of the new architecture style.

In this work we try to evocate such old time, in the capacity of the last generation who witness the replacement of two eras.

====description====

The installation is an attempt to rebuild an old style living place. It uses several still objects for metaphorizing six independent, but adjacent spaces.
Those objects, which could be a reflection of the old time, are forsaken memory keepers. They are silent, unless being touched will they start to mutter. In their whisper, participants need to pick them up and get close enough to listen, as well as to feel the texture of those daily clips.

The work functions as a series of living organisms with or without the presence and interactions of spectators.
When spectators have no action, the installation create its own dialogue by constructing an abstract and intangible space which symbolize a si-he-yuan (a chinese style residence with yard).
And when participants penetrate into the work space and interact with the objects (by using a megnet), a reallife context will be substantialized by sound which comes from the hand-made coils attach to the objects.
====conception====

The project we are working on, which still remains no title, is an interactive installation that trying to provide a certain atmosphere of the city Beijing in it's 1980s.

During the process of modernization and urbanization, old architectural styles are being replaced by apartment buildings and skyscrapers. It seems like the price somehow you have to pay for development. However, as a result, residents and aboriginal inhabitants are forced to be spectators of reforms, form which creates huge gaps in sociality. The lost is not only about the vanish of old houses, but also the on-longer-existence of a clustered life style, which we used to valued very much, and relay very much on the old architectural syle.

In this work we trying to evocate such old time with rebuilding an old style living place, in the capacity of the last generation who witness the replacement of two eras.

====description====

The installation uses several still objects for metaphorizing six independent but adjacent spaces.
Those objects, which could be a reflection of the old time, are forsaken memory keepers . They are silent, unless being touched will they start to mutter. Since they murmur in a whispering way, participants need to pick them up and get close enough to listen as well as to feel the texture of those daily clips.

The work functions as a serious of living organism with or without the presence and interactions of spectators.
When spectators have no action, the installation create its own dialogue by constructing an abstract and intangible space which symbolize a si-he-yuan (a chinese style residence with yard).
And when participants penetrate into the work space and interact with the objects, a reallife context will be substantialized by sound.
