Tumbleweed lives in the north of the world. It grows from a seed. In autumn, its roots will dry up, and the whole plant will be easily moved by the wind. When they are moved by the wind, their seeds will also fall to the ground while they are tumbling. It is an alien species to the United States, and the United States is threatened by it every year. I thought about what would happen if I made a similar object like this and put it in a southern city's street in China? This city has a humid climate and is very different from the environment tumbleweed lived before.
Considering that people on the street will wear clothes of various colors, I plan to try to use face tracking.
It can only be based on grayscale recognition and needs to use jit.rgb2luma object to convert RGB images into monochrome. But this also means that the image needs to have good contrast to be tracked successfully.

:File:face tracking cvjit Quan.maxpat

Can see from the video, the tracking is not very stable. In the second half of the video, when I increased the lighting conditions of the face, the tracking stabilized a lot.

But for me currently this method's shortcoming is obvious: once the face is blocked, the tracking will be lost.

So I tried by putting on a mask and sunglasses. Under the same brightness conditions, masks can easily interfere with face tracking. Sunglasses have relatively little interference with tracking, but when the distance is far (about 60 cm away from the webcam), the face tracking starts to appear to be lost.
Next, I will try motion tracking, and use Kinect to complete the clock chasing of people, and let the computer process the data of the distance.

cv.jit face

(Through a small rectangle on the right to determine whether it has been tracked. When it is white, it means that it has been tracked, otherwise it means that the track has been lost.)

Next, I will try motion tracking, and use Kinect to complete the clock chasing of people, and let the computer process the data of the distance.

Shared Habitats was the title of now three exhibitions by students of the Bauhaus University [http://shared-habitats.eu/ ] as well as of a book that is currently being published. In the module, we understand our living space as a habitat in which we are not alone: we share it with countless fellow humans near and far, with other living beings, machines and objects. Our well-being is built on an atmosphere that has been created over epic periods of time by the actions of these beings, which is not divisible but shared destiny.

In the module, we will look in particular at the "habits to share," the habits and strategies for action that are necessary if we are to make our civilization sustainable, thriving, and peaceful.
In the module, interactions, strategies or objects for a Shared Habitat are to be created, interfaces, but also techniques, manuals, online tools - in short, everything that is necessary to agree on coordinated, collective practices within our environment.
Let the world know how your vision of a Shared Habitat will look like!

The module essentially offers the opportunity to carry out individual artistic-creative projects in your own conception within the scope of Shared Habitats. You are expected to develop a self-motivated and self-organized project idea and realize it until the end of the module. The plenum initiates open dialogue about your projects and the in-between steps. The plenum offers a culture of exchange and discussion that builds on the participation of the participants.

The module will be conducted virtually as online conferences until the End of June with face to face meetings at the end of the semester in July.
Idea
Tumbleweed lives in the north of the world. It grows from a seed. In autumn, its roots will dry up, and the whole plant will be easily moved by the wind. When they are moved by the wind, their seeds will also fall to the ground while they are tumbling. It is an alien species to the United States, and the United States is threatened by it every year. They will block the roads, will block people's doors and cause some disturbance to people's lives. I thought about what would happen if I made a similar object like this and put it in a southern city's street in China? This city has a humid climate and is very different from the environment tumbleweed lived before.
Technical solution
*Movement
According to the survey, find the easiest way to drive the ball - put a car powered by a motor inside the ball.
*Sensing solution
Currently intends to rely on the camera to track the human body to convey the information of human approach.
