Developing Successful Cooperations with Current and Future-Oriented Ideas
The Bauhaus Further Education Academy e.V. has a new managing director. Since the summer of 2021, Jürgen Schneider, a graduate in business administration and former cultural manager, has been at the helm of the institute at the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar.
Since 1993, the Lake Constance-born Swabian has been living and working in Weimar and has established a reputation as, among other things, the organiser of the successful cultural festival in the Klosterruine Paulinzella and director of Thuringia’s largest youth choir, the schola cantorum weimar. With no reason to stop, other than »after 26 years in the cultural business, the time was ripe for a change and new challenges«, says Jürgen Schneider of taking on this new career. He found the challenges he was looking for last year at the WBA and since taking office, he has been working in the new university environment with enthusiasm and motivation.
The WBA itself has operated as a provider of part-time academic and scientific further education for 26 years. Its portfolio includes Master's Degree Programmes, certificate programmes and specialised seminars as well as conferences, international education, educational trips and the Kolleg 50plus. It also offers intensive German courses for prospective Bauhaus-Universität Weimar students.
The WBA’s cooperation with the Faculty of Civil Engineering is particularly strong. The successful further education formats in this cooperation have been developed and established based on the market in recent years. Jürgen Schneider sees continuing and expanding upon this successful cooperation as a key element of his new position as Managing Director of the WBA, for both current and future issues. He is also particularly interested in starting discussions with the Faculties of Architecture and Urbanism, Art and Design, and Media in order to develop further education step by step in these fields through identifying the needs and wishes and to establish them in the mid-to-long term with the aim of lifelong learning.
