Library Architecture
Since September 2005, a new library building with about 5.000 square effective area located on the site of a farmer brewery in the city centre of Weimar belongs to the Bauhaus University. In this building are located both user and staff areas of the University Library as well as the central lecture hall (auditorium) of the university. In the first basement level the building is connected with the Limona building.
The project was realized by meck archiekten, München.
The construction started in December 2001 and the building was handed over in July 2005. The building was awarded the Architecture and Urban Design Price 2006 of the state Thüringia, Thüringer Staatspreis für Architektur und Städtebau 2006.
