As part of the Bauhaus Anniversary Programme, guests had the opportunity to get to know the Bauhaus University Weimar in a variety of ways. Numerous teachers, students and alumni participated in the program and organized exhibitions, conferences, lecture series, concerts, parties and much more.
For the Bauhaus100 projects, the university had set up a fund. The funded projects took place over the year 2019 and mediated and made accessible different fields of art and research. On the evening of 12 April 2019, the two universities in Weimar jointly celebrated the festival »Republic of Spirits – Republik der Geister«. In the main buildings of the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar and the Hochschule für Musik FRANZ LISZT Weimar, students staged the rooms as a multimedia spectacle and combined architecture with art and music, stage, performance – a celebration as it was programmatic for the Bauhaus and lived at that time by masters and students.
The Bauhaus.Semester, which was initiated for the winter semester 2018/2019, marked the beginning and core of the anniversary activities. Teachers and students from the four faculties of Architecture and Urbanism, Civil Engineering, Art and Design, and Media had created new interdisciplinary teaching formats especially for the semester, in which they – like the Bauhaus 100 years ago – overcame boundaries between disciplines and experimented freely. In the more than 100 projects and courses, the participants brought their specific working methods, methodologies and perspectives to bear in order to find new approaches to current problems. The program was continued in the 2019 summer semester.
The Bauhaus.Semester has shown that both students and teachers greatly appreciate the possibilities of interdisciplinary study and teaching, the broadening of perspectives, the change of perspective and the creation of new contacts and constellations. For this reason, since the beginning of the 2019/20 winter semester, the format has been successively developed under the title Bauhaus.Module.
