Due to current developments in the corona pandemic, the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) is reinstating the interim financial aid for students in pandemic emergency situations until the end of the winter semester starting 20 November.
Interim financial aid can be applied for by German and foreign students who are enrolled at a public or state-recognised higher education institution in Germany and who are not on leave. This applies to students from Germany and abroad, without age limit.
A monthly allowance of up to 500 euros is granted. The 57 regional student unions (Studierendenwerke) are responsible for processing applications, whereby applications are submitted exclusively online via the established nationwide standardised IT platform. Since 20 November, it is possible to apply:www.überbrückungshilfe-studierende.de.
In addition, the KfW Student Loan will remain interest-free until the end of 2021. This was initially limited until March 2021.
