VPN Connection via »OpenConnect«

The »Cisco AnyConnect-Client« is not available for all architectures, such as the »Rasberry Pi«. Therefore, we also present the possibility to dial into the university VPN with the AnyConnect-compatible »OpenConnect« client. However, the instructions are without guarantee.

Installation

Before setting up: Check dependencies of the »OpenConnect« client

First make sure that the necessary package »network-manager-openconnect-gnome« is installed.

  • Under RedHat-based distributions (Fedora, CentOS, RHEL) it can be installed with the following command:
    sudo yum install network-manager-openconnect-gnome

  • Under Debian-based distributions (Ubuntu, Linux Mint, Debian) please use the following command:
    sudo apt install network-manager-openconnect-gnome

  • Under SuSE (OpenSuSE, SLES, SLED) please use the following command:
    sudo zypper install network-manager-openconnect-gnome

After the installation has been completed, it should be sufficient to log off and log on again to be able to carry out the following steps. If you do not find the entry »VPN connection compatible with Cisco AnyConnect (openconnect)« in the list of VPN connections, a restart is necessary.
