11. Do not reveal sensitive information unconsidered

Be suspicious when someone contacts you for a (supposed) problem, and want to know sensitive data, such as passwords or configuration settings. The IT managers at the university will not ask for your password.
If in doubt, note the name of the calling person and call him back from the address book or information system of the university, or ask the Service Desk of the SCC (phone: 03643 58 24 24 or E-Mail: nutzerservice[at]uni-weimar.de)

For current phishing attempts, we will inform you about the SCC's message board:

Never publish sensitive information on the WWW. When using social networks such as StudiVZ, Facebook, MySpace, Linkedln, etc., you should carefully consider what personal information you give price. The protection suggested there is often not really available or can not be guaranteed for any time. Also take note of any additional information that could be misused through photos or video conferences. Subsequent removal of published information is difficult or impossible at all.
