Dear students, dear staff,
Since the pandemic began, Bauhaus-Universität Weimar has taken all possible steps to plan ahead and ensure that the university is a safe environment for all members. The university is continuing to monitor the current situation and is adapting measures and regulations to meet requirements.
Because of the record-high incidence rate in Thuringia (and in Weimar), we are urgently requesting that you consistently follow all measures and regulations. It is important to us that all university members are able to work and study in a comfortable environment. We ask that you also do your best to ensure that others are also aware of the current regulations.
3G Rule
Only those who fall under the 3G categories of vaccinated, recovered, or tested may take part in in-person classes. This regulation applies to both students and staff. For all three of these cases, you must carry proof of your status with you at all times. Compliance with the 3G rule will be randomly monitored.
3G monitoring is carried out by specially trained student assistants and has received a high level of approval and positive feedback, indicating a strong demand for security. Instructors may also carry out 3G compliance checks in their in-person courses; these compliance checks should be carried out in a discreet and non-judgemental manner. For a list of valid proof, please see the FAQs for Students and see »How is status proven?«
If a self-test is considered proof in your case, this may only be done at the university test centre. The official certificate issued for a negative test is the only proof that permits participation in in-person classes. Any other carrying out of a self-test, even under supervision, will not be accepted as proof. If the compliance check teams determine any such violations, the student or guest in question will not be permitted to participate in the in-person event. If this affects instructors, the even cannot take place and must be immediately cancelled.
We wish to point out that the compliance check teams are authorised by the Board of Governance to carry out these checks and, in the case of violation, authorised to ask the individuals in question to stay away from the in-person event.
The AHA+L rule
The AHA+L (distancing, hygiene, mask + ventilation) rules have been in place for a year and a half now and are a part of everyday life for many of us, but we wish to remind you of these regulations again - especially as the colder temperatures force us to move indoors.
Keep your Distance
As a general rule, a distance of 1.5 metres must be maintained between individuals. Designated seating plans may not be changed. Be sure to use only the designated seats and never sit directly next to one another.
Wear a Mask
Medical masks (surgical masks or FFP2 masks) must be worn on all routes and if the minimum distance of 1.5 metres cannot be maintained. Provided 1.5 metres is maintained between individuals, you may remove your mask once you are at your designated spot. Lecture halls are now set with 25% and 50% occupation. In cases of 50% occupation (checkerboard pattern, always one free space between individuals), all participants are required to wear masks.
Report infections
All members of the university are requested to report infections and quarantine cases using the contact formwww.uni-weimar.de/coronavirus/meldeformular. Employees are obliged to do this; for students, reporting has so far been voluntary: The aim is to inform the participants in classes.
Additionally, we strongly urge all university members who have not yet been vaccinated and who are eligible to do so, to get vaccinated - both for the sake of others and for their own health. Being fully-vaccinated is the only reliable protection against severe cases of the virus. We also urge those who have been vaccinated to take advantage of the opportunity for a booster vaccination (five to six months after full vaccination has been achieved).
At Bauhaus-Universität Weimar, we act in solidarity and show respect and consideration for one another. We hope to get through this second pandemic winter together and to stay safe and continue stick together. This is only possible if we all do our part. Your health is important to us and we are very aware of our social responsibility.
Keeping this in mind, we hope that together we can manage the upcoming weeks, and we thank you for your strength and cooperation during these challenging times.
On behalf of the Board of Governance
sincerely,
Winfried Speitkamp
