PECHA KUCHA (Japanese: cheetah-chat, something chaotic) stands for a presentation format, an event series and a global network founded 10 years ago in Tokyo. Two architects: Astrid Klein and Mark Dytham were fed up with boring academic lectures or long Power-Point architectural talks. They proposed the strict framework of 20 slides, each flipping after 20 seconds. All in all 6 minutes 40 seconds talk-show and no more.
This restriction is strong but yet the only one. PECHA KUCHA has no limitations apart from this one. And it is the main reason it spread worldwide with resonance at universities and in business. Today PECHA KUCHA NIGHTS are held regularly in over 700 cities. They are all informal events in an easy going atmosphere, besides the academic and professional environment. Everyone is invited to speak here and to address any topic. Passions, ideas, projects, photos, hobbies.. Everything is possible and desired!
Each event offers a great possibility to meet people from your business or are of interest. Open up for new contacts!
Since September 2013, Weimar is one of those cities with the ambition of providing a public space for Weimar’s long and short-term residents where they can share their ideas and expand their social networks. The best presentations are uploaded to the project website: http://www.pechakucha.org/ and enjoy thousands of “clicks” there.
Dear PechaKuchans!
PechaKucha Night #5 Weimar took place at a new place with new people, eight colorful presentations and 20x20 and lots of fun!
And afterwards: we had our first PhD.Party!
Here we go again! After the splendid sky-flight in April, we moved on to the heart of Weimar: Lesesaal at the Radio LOTTE Weimar 106.6 MHz, Goetheplatz! This time scientific topics were most welcome but not exclusive! For the start, before they part from Weimar, we had once again the chance to hear the famous Limona Jam!

For the third time in Weimar, the 20x20 PechaKucha presentation format, this time at the top of the limona library with a splendid view over the city.
The event will started with a small concert by Ammalia and Daniele. Please see here a short review with pictures.
The second PechaKucha Night took place also in the alternative gallery “der Laden”. The place was completely packed and the audience enjoyed 8 diverse presentations. A dozen of PhD candidates was becoming familiar with the new format. Please take a look at the Tokio website for full relation:

The first PechaKucha Night in Weimar took place in “der Laden” – an alternative gallery, open to all sorts of events on a non-profit basis. The day was celebrated as a Global PechaKucha Day and so we participated in a wave of hundred cities running their PechaKuchas simultaneously. You will find the full relation from the event here:
