The contest is open to early stage scientists, artists and designers from all subjects at the seven Member universities - FH Erfurt, Duale Hochschule Gera-Eisenach, TU Ilmenau, Ernst-Abbe-Hochschule Jena, Hochschule Nordhausen, Hochschule Schmalkalden and the host Bauhaus-Universität Weimar - feel free to forward the call!

Eligible to participate:

Registration Deadline: 15 May 2022

In order to look at the issue of sustainability from as diverse perspectives as possible, we are now looking for your projects for an exhibition. Design concepts, publications, photo series, material research, programmes ... and even more projects from all faculties and institutes are more than welcome. The selected works will then be exhibited at the University Library for the Long Night on 23 June 2022.

To participate, please fill out the online form by 15 May 2022 and send us as a summarized PDF of max 15 MB:

- a brief description (300 words max.) of your project

- the context in which the project was created
- as well as photos, links or other information about the project.

We look forward to receiving your projects!

Promoting diversity, fighting discrimination, making equal opportunities a reality

This is the motto of the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar for the diversity audit »Vielfalt gestalten«.

Together with seven other universities from Thuringia, the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar is taking part in the two-year audit conducted by the Deutscher Stifterverband.

The audit supports universities in developing and implementing a diversity strategy aimed at anchoring the topic of diversity more firmly in their institutional structures.

As part of the audit, a workshop takes place on 12 May 2022 from 9 am to 1 pm.

We would like to present the results of the various working groups so far, develop a "future vision of diversity" in working sessions, and consider together how we can realize this vision at our university.

All members of the university are welcome!

Join us and design a diverse university with us!

Please register, by writing an email to: miriam.benteler[at]uni-weimar.de

Between 16 May and 3 June 2022, there will be events on the internet and in presence relating to the topics of diversity and anti-/discrimination at universities.

The events will highlight difficult and denied access to higher education and science, will present support and counselling services and provide space for discussion on how Thuringia's universities can be designed as common places for learning, researching and working.

The events are mostly inter-university and online. Registration is required for most events. Information on this can be found in the respective event announcements (in German).

The book, edited by Leila Javanmardi, Maher Deeb, Dalia Ibrahim, Hans-Rudolf Meier and Franziska Matthes, has emerged from a selection of papers presented during the International Conference »Modern Heritage in the MENA region«, organized in Weimar in 2017. What this selection does hope to accomplish is to bring into attention the legacy of the modern era in the MENA region and, by providing new perspectives on this matter, bridge between practice and theory.
