Cultural Scientific Media Research
Scientific Media Research focuses on examining such themes as mediatisation, digitalisation and globalisation in modern-day life. How do technical systems and apparatus of observation, recording, processing and dissemination interact with one another and what influence do cultural systems of behaviour, knowledge, recognition and general signification have on these? The task of Cultural Scientific Media Research is to make such processes and relationships tangible and understandable by means of historical, analytical and theoretical consideration. To this end, historical and systematic stocks of knowledge have to integrated and pooled to an equal degree. Various areas of study are incorporated into the process, ranging from single media research and analysis to social theory, cultural history and media theory.
