LEEK FIBERS
Processing offcuts from leek harvesting
Produced by trimming and peeling, the offcuts of leeks are immediately discarded during harvesting and processing. The aim of the project is to redefine this scrap material, transforming a previously valueless substance into a valuable resource for manufacturing biodegradable products.
The properties of this new material were examined in a series of experiments. This inspired the design of a concept shoe made out of processed leeks, demonstrating the innovative possibilities of producing sustainable components from compressed and moulded leek pulp.
