Project description

Our project focuses on Anatomieturm to generate an interface between actual and virtual reality. One of the reasons of considering the old remains as a starting point is to re-function them and to bring them in to the identity of the city.

This entity is going to take part as a secondary facade and implicitly connote its existence through the language of anatomy. However this connotation is originated from the past of the historical remain, participants will be able to interpret by themselves through forming and deforming the secondary facade. This kinetic facade consists of semitransparent folding structure and its supportive metal construction behind.

The main behavior of this system is changing the formation by applied force. To realize this idea, we used force sensitive resistor, which transmits the force values to the hinge points. Through servo motors on those hinge points, participants will be able to create a new memory onto the surface. Aditionally, we will store the data of the day and in the end, the surface will shape itself by using the average values of every hinge point.

The creature, will be brought into existence by users of the city and it will communicate/interact with users during the night through some noises (in electronic sense) and LED lights on the structure which will represent the nervous system of the creature in metaphorical sense. To sum up, this creature‘, will represent the participants‘ subjective reality.
