Project description
The state of Thuringia is developing a new timetable system - an integrated timetable - based on the Swiss model in order to improve local public transport. The aim is to harmonize all regional and municipal timetables. For this purpose, around 150 to 200 new stops are being created - including in unusual locations such as rural roads or in the forest. In addition to modernizing existing stops, the aim is to design innovative transfer situations.
Concepts and proposals for modular stops are shown that are geared towards the requirements of the new system and go beyond the purely functional character of a stop situation in a visionary and creative way. The concepts were developed and designed together with the Chair of Transport System Planning at the Bauhaus University Weimar (Prof. Dr.-Ing. Uwe Plank-Wiedenbeck). Additional support was provided by the “Thüringer Ministerium für Digitales und Infrastruktur”.
Despite the complexity (safety, accessibility, costs, etc.), the focus was on creativity and a playful approach to the design process. The process was accompanied by specialist input, including on accessibility, from experts from the Chair of Transport System Planning.
