Project description
Die Beschäftigung mit der Stadt und städtebaulichen Kontexten bildet neben der klassischen Baudenkmalpflege einen zentralen Bestandteil der wissenschaftlichen und institutionellen Arbeit der Denkmalpflege. Als Aufgabenfeld der staatlichen Denkmalpflege etablierte sich die städtebauliche Denkmalpflege in den 1970er Jahren, als großflächige Abrisse ganzer Altbauquartiere sowie ein umfangreiches Baugeschehen zum Verlust geschichtlich überlieferter gestalterischer Zusammenhänge führten. Ausgangspunkt ist die Erkenntnis, dass Gebäude miteinander in Beziehung stehen und daher der jeweilige räumliche Kontext eine wichtige Rolle spielt, bei der Betrachtung sowohl von einzelnen Denkmalen, als auch historisch gewachsenen Umgebungen.
Die städtebauliche Denkmalpflege zeichnet sich nicht nur durch ein spezifisches Instrumentarium aus, sondern auch durch einen analytischen Blick, der die Bewertung und Inwertsetzung baulicher Objekte und Anlagen der Vergangenheit auf Fragen städtischer Gegenwart und Zukunft scharfstellt.
Im Seminar „Stadt als Denkmal“ haben sich Studierende im 2. Fachsemester des Bachelor Urbanistik an Beispielen Weimarer Stadträume mit verschiedenen Aspekten und Methoden der städtebaulichen Denkmalpflege beschäftigt. Neben einer noch in Erstellung befindlichen Broschüre wurden die Analyse-Ergebnisse in 5minütigen Kurzfilme überführt, die während der Summaery online angeschaut werden können.
